Your Right Rex ......Kiddies...... not kitty litter........Appologies there.

Gangsters is the pritty much dry ledge up wind that rattles down to the outside section called Big kiddies........... out the back from little kiddies.

Often Gansters is refered to and or called Barries......... Barries was named by surfers AND is such...... The take off is on the inside/side of the ledge .

The section that links you to this is Gansters and breakes in deep water right infront of the ledge but 30m out and often links all the way through to Barries and rattles off down the reef for upto 100m,often this will shutting down before big kiddies smashes and rattles of into the channel and then links up with Hells right hander.

Gansters is nearly always throughing 8 foot....... when you stuff up ie take off to late,,,,,or want to straighten up you get washed up on onto the concrete cell floor high and dry and surged over it if your lucky............mind you the end section is also shallow but you can often sneak over it sailing and or washed.

Point man how you traveling

Yep I got it, sounds like there has been some re-inventing going on, originally called tornadoes it started getting called kiddies corner as a poke at that crew that hung out on the corner all the time. Outside and over the boat passage was barries and way inside almost opposite the tower reef marker where its rare to see people sail anymore was inside barries. Back yards was the reef that breaks 200 meters outside of barries on a 4 meter + swell.

What about railways ?
Is inside barries where the whirlpool effect comes into play with water forming a whirlpool effect just inside the reef ?

Railways is kind of an onshore wave to ride and jump most of the time but a gem on a eastsoutheaster.

The whirlpool effect you talk about is "the jaws" and that is where it gets about 2foot deep at inside hells.

Intresting that ......Tornadoes i like that .........for kiddies.

Barries was always known to me as the up wind section on the inside ....not out the back from Kiddies......... as you reckon .........

In fact not many people refer to this section with a name .......ive always assumed it to be out side kiddies and refered to it as channel busters.......

Inside outs...... was the name for the wave that wraps around back at you from the hells gates right hander when your sailing in.Often you can get a sick jump/barrel roll /back loop on the other tack or carve jybe to propell you back out ..... all in front of you just by sailing through and over that 2foot inside hells reef after a 3 to 5 left hand bottom turn ride in.........love that cracking ripcord that occurs when the to waves meet.

Eves passage is the first reef accross the deep channel and to the north .....It has its day ......stuff up out there and you will end up at the HMS Sydney Wreck site.

PS heaps of people are sail Gangsters....and barries......these days. Super low tide you wont get accross.... i reckon its got deeper......over the years on your average tide you can sail in and out ,All you need is 210 cm of water...................
......................also

Gangsters will wall up 6 to 8 foot on 2.5m plusssss swelllll coupled with the right tides.....

Ive found a little bit of out going tide slows the current and lets the wind right through the reef.........Gotta love a place that can get a bit to big and wild make the heart beat.

Point man spoke to Mr out door only yesterday .........about the trip.......pics get better with time...........

Not sure that we are talking about the same reef , the first wave on the way out is kiddies, then you cross the crayboat channel and the next wave is barries, inside barries is up wind at the right/left peak, I gather what you call gangsters is inbetween the two.

In fact not many people refer to this section with a name .......ive always assumed it to be out side kiddies and refered to it as channel busters.......

Eves passage is the passage between the nothern end of hells( eves lefts) and railways which is the next reef/wave ( called that because a boat with railway cargo went down there.

Inside barries you dont need to cross the reef unless you get run down by one and then your usually in a spot of bother anyway.
