Can anyone point me to the basic freestyle moves to learn first. I've been sailing for years, can carve jibe, duck jibe & tack fine but I'd like to spice up my (mostly) lake sailing with some of the new stuff. I saw someone do a Monkey Duck Jibe the other day so I gave it a go. Pulled off my first one! (none after that though). It all looks like a lot of fun. Some starting websites, DVDs, books etc. would be great. Any recommendations?

Also, my kit's a bit old (slalom & wave boards, cambered speed and slalom sails). Can I get by with buying just a freestyle board, or do I need to add new rigs as well?

You might need to get some wave sails. Cambered sails will be just about impossible to do anything with.

I do have a couple of wave sails (5.2 & 4.7) but these don't get out much. I wear out my 6's mostly due to lack of wind

www.roynbartholdi.com has a good selection of classic stuff, with a few newer moves as well.

Heli-tack
Sail/body 360
Backwinded Gybe
Carving 360, moving on to in the straps
Upwind 360 (non-planing first)

You can probably manage those in the kit you have at a push, but ideally get out there on your small wave sails and a big board to practice them first, then move onto doing them in planing winds. You don't need a freestyle board for this stuff, but fully cammed sails might make things a bit tough!

I've recently got the dvd "feed your soul" . Its taken me from happily blasting around and gybing to blasting around and making a tool of myself at every turn.
Actually its very thorough in instruction and has heaps of moves.
