About 2 years ago I was feeling pretty good about my windsurfing. After a couple of years of windsurfing I was comfortable on a small board, waterstarting, reasonable at gybing etc.. etc... Having moved to Sydney I haven't got out as much and have 'lost it' a lot. I'm doing well just to blast backwards and forwards now.

Anyone else found themselves 'going backwards'? Any tips to kick start things? Other than move to Perth

Join the GPS Teams Challenge. That way you can actually measure your windsurfing performance besides doing freestyle and waves. Getting and beating PBs helps motivation. For example I've achieved a fair few PBs this summer. Its great getting a PB and its motivates me to windsurf more and better.

However it could be a two edged sword in that without the GPS it may feel like not being worthwhile to windsurf. On the other hand I still love sailing in light winds on the big learner board and trying tricks and stuff like that.

Easy, push your boundaries.

Maybe try wavesailing. Learning to gybe in amongst swell and getting out through shorebreak will make you a better sailor.
