I have a Gopro camera and a Gath helmet.
What is the best way to mount the camera to the helmet?
Is there a Gopro mount that I can buy?
Thanks![]()
I got the gopro HD helmet hero and there is a helmet strap thingy but that requires that there is some holes in the top of the helmet which i don't think the gath hats have? Fits really well on my pushbike helmet thou.

appart from that, apparently the 3m adhesive mounts that come with it are super strong, and should be pretty cheap too. however i haven't tried them yet with my gopro. I've just been using the headstrap mount with a leash as backup.
any other suggestions on helmets? I'm thinking about getting something wakeboard orientated rather then a gath hat cause i don't think the gath has the vents i need for the helmet strap.
My suggestion for gath hat.. use the 3m adhesive mount and a short leash between cam and helmet for backup.
I've used my mates GoPro stuck to the side of my Gath using the supplied stick on mount. Works a treat but tie it off just in case.
If you have a mate ordering a new HD GoPro get him to oder the mounts at the same time

yep, i use the 3m sticky mount and it works fine on a Gath. i do use a short leash to attach to the screw mount as well just in case.

Anyone working with fibreglass a lot could take a mould off the helmet and make a bracket that is a snug fit to the helmet, thus meaning u can use 3M double sided tape on a few points rather than just one?
Just a thought
Greenie,
ping me a pm and I'll send you some photos of the system we used a while back with the multiple units we were using for work... and the occasional windsurf expedition ![]()
We found the best system was from a bike lock for a push bike.
They had really strong mount points and the shape suited the cameras (bullet) style like a glove based on the standard shape/diameter of a push bike frame.
Once they click together they will not come apart and there is an inbuilt safety/fail safe... which means you wont be losing your new camera !
We modified the gath by drilling out the ai'r holes' in the tops and sides.
You can then pull the foam out of the inside of the helmet and push the bolts from the inside out.
Get some good quality stainless bolts with the flattest head possible.
It's a bit fiddly but the end result is super secure AND there are no sharp/metal bits inside the helmet.
Once you push the foam inserts back in there is plenty of protection for your scone but we thought flat head screws were still a worthwhile investment.

or just use the head strap mount they have: gopro.com/en/au/?area=2&productid=28
you'll either way look like a dork with a camera attached your head ... ![]()
the footage i posted recently was using a white water rafting helmet. its got a little brim on it so just drill stright through that. oh yeah it ooozes syle as well if you wear it backwards.
nah it was my mates, the kite surfer in the footage. there was a big rubber donger on it though, im goin to be more careful next time he offers to take me to "secret spots"
I have the 3m curved helmet mount on my Gath Jedi for my GoPro. Sticks like S to a B.
I have had the same mount on there for all of my speed vids and it is still going strong. You can use a cable tie as a leash if reqd.
Hi Greenroom, I got the mounts in the GoPro "Grab Bag". It has a range of different stick-on mounds and spares. Here is a review from when I first bought the camera:

I got the mounts from Adventure Cams HQ, Seabreeze might sell the grab bag too.
