Does any one else get bad hammy cramps after a hard session on the water and any ideas how to stop these. (stretching/Gatorade etc.)
Usually happens in the evening 3-4 hrs after packing up.
Thanks for any advice

I used to get them real bad, once had both go at once, was stuck on the floor for about 5 minutes! Feels like your hammy is going to rip off your bones.

Had one go in a cinema once after a hard days sailing, I almost booted the guy out of his chair in front.

I take a Magnesium supliment, apparently it takes several months to build your stores. Also make sure well hydrated with Staminade or Enduro, both of which have added Magnesium.

No more problems since.

"Natures own" 500mg magnesium. Just 1 a day should do.
It's quite cheap. One bottle lasts all season, except you will need two bottles because you need to start about a month before the season starts.

It's also good for smoothing out irregular heart rythyms for old folk with hearts that splutter and pop like a model T Ford.

You might as well stay on it all year.

( oh yes. I nearly forgot. You can also give up kiting. )

i occasionally get cramps in my calf when waterstarting - the leg that's up on the board - wonder why that is?

Anyhow it's no big issue for me; supplements etc won't be necessary, but it's still nice to know about them...

I got rid of that by jumping rope 3 or more times a week for 5min...
