So I've narrowed my decision down to the following, so help me decide where to spend my money for the up coming slalom season. 7.8 Warp is largest sail i'll use and I weight 85kg.

2014 - Isonic 107 & 87

or

2014 - Falcon 110 & 2012 Falcon 89 (can get a good price on this)

or

Carbon art SL66 & SL58 ( not my first choice at this stage as from a test ride and talking to other users the SL66 seems to be a bit off the pace in a straight line)

Cheers

2012 Falcon... no way man you should get the 2013 model. Well what do you know, there's one going really cheap in the buy and sell www.seabreeze.com.au/Classifieds/Windsurfing-Boards/~a6jl4/2013-Fanatic-Falcon-240-cm-89-litres.aspx?search=0BZmezxV2psdk9!ajEnUdwWCEnidlpghJ3Q!V5Wwa$Lsp8o0$BS$7w==

Seriously though (and from my limited experience with the Falcon) I prefer the iSonics but there's heaps of very fast guys that swear by the Falcons and the same amount again that are CA fans.

The new model 66cm and 58cm from Carbon Art are no Slugs, they took 1st youth, 2nd,4th,5th,6th,9th in men's open, 1st ladies, and 1st silver fleet at the NZ slalom nationals in Dunedin this year.
Youth, 2nd,4th,6th,9th,and silver riders were all on North sails warps so I would say quite a winning combo!

Hi Dani

Can you elaborate why you say that. What characteristics don't you like about the Falcons and isonics that you think the CA do better ? Do you race or just freerace ?

Thanks

Hi MrFish!
I freerace.
To be fair!
I still love Fanatic boards, specially my 2011 101 Falcon, i did not like how they change the style for the 2012 they don't plane as early, and i still think the 2011 are faster. Love riding these boards in choppy conditions. Not much tuning with the Falcons.
The Isonic 90 and 107 i did not like at all not comfortable for me, need a lot of tuning foot straps on the 90 way to uncomfortable, i didn't like them in choppy condition. (Sorry i am not trying to put Star boards or any other manufacture down). just my personal feeling.
Now why i like the Carbon arts? very comfortable, plane early, super fast and stable, no problem with chops, the quality is excellent. Gybing is a dream.
Don't forget you can customize the setting to your liking specially foot straps.
Good Sailing.

Hi Mr Fish,
What part of NZD are you based? If anywhere close to Auckland I'm happy to meet up and let you try some of the carbon art boards.
Never found the 66cm described as off the pace before, my go to board with the warp 7.8m. What fins were you using, and more to point what boards are you riding now?

the fanatic falcons are awesome fun around the corners, but due to the build quality you would want to buy brand new as they do break,

CA the way to go for longivity, i know guys that have had CA for ears and years, and guys that have had isonics and falcons for 3 or 4 sails then they break

Dani you know I love you .. but like most of us, you tend to like your newest gear the best. That said, though, your alphas went up in leaps and bounds when you got the Carbon Art boards, and they helped you to finally get 30 knots :-)
