Late model Triton dual cab with the power back window and a canopy is the go. Nose of the board through the back window and with the canopy locked everything is safe.

depending on the boards you can get 2 through the window and I have even travelled with 9'2" longboard in the car locked up safe when you stop.

Navara single cab D22 internal tray length is 2200. On the diagnal it a bit over 2400. I fit a 430 mast in no probs.

hilux 2009 dual cab fits in diagonal, but i have a tarp and frame over it with 1 metre height. a hard cover and it wouldnt fit. 2 boards go in diagonal with no fins with a slight overhang of a couple of inches.
2 piece 4.3m fits easy.

hate to say say it but we had navara's at work and after that I wouldn't touch them.
things spent more time in the workshop than actually being used.

There are a couple of new utes coming out soon that look like they may have slightly longer trays than we are used to.

the new Mazda BT50 Freestyle cab looks good, and the new Ford Ranger. Both built on the same chassis, and both claiming to be larger than the Hilux which was previously the largest in class.

Well avoid to break to hard! I loaded a kite board that way in my Jeep and it ended poking out of the windscreen!

Hilux xtra cab trayback will fit my 234cm evo plus another wave board (diagonal) plus sails plus 430 mast. don't use any cover tho as there is no one else on the island to flog it...

Talking to a couple of mechanic friends last week hilux is made in thailand now and are crap a frend bought a new extra cab a few months ago the gearbox had to come out already also lots of clutches being replaced after a short time . If you buy one check the compliance plate to see where its made . Newish mitsubishis are supposed to be good

Hey curac ya numbnut ;) I have a '10 extracab hilux with a hardlid. I can fit a board underneath the lid locked up with everything else. You need to position it just so but it all gets in. I have a ute liner as well which I would imagine would suck up at least 30 mm, without a liner youd get in easy. For longer trips I have a " bed extender" ( us style) which sits on the tailgate when it's down giving me another foot and a bit. 74ltr jp is my big board which fits in so if you check the specs on that you'll get an idea of length. Good cars though. I've had 6 now and never been off the road due to a breakdown of any sort.

never will understand the dual cab with a canopy.

Get a normal fourby

you get more length with back seats down
you can still put dirty stuff in the back with a liner
still get 5 people in it

when you have your own business it still qualifies as 100% deduction as a commercial vehical, AND i can fit in the family AND lock up the power tools in the back seat.

The average Aussie family has 2.x kids and 2 cars. What's your other car? A length wise lockable box in a longer tray is a more efficient use of space to store tools.

Did a couple of 4 up interstate road trips in an '05 dual cab Ford Courier. Doing time in the back seat was torture.

You're right Mark, the number of dual cabs on the road doesn't add up.
