Yeah I thought the same thing, impossible. Hehehe but I did it, not a full on sideways loss but in between and recoverable. Flat chat in around a 20 knot gust, over a chop, hard on the back foot and away it went, with a 48cm fin! The best part is the sound it made, I've never heard anything like it. It made this really deep gurgling noise that caught my attention and I looked down at the tail. The wake was sideways under the stepped tail and lots of turbulence and bubbles like an outboard motor. Really weird and I thought it was hilarious, could have held it in that position for as long as the gust stayed but I just pulled the tail back under me and beared away and it was gone. Ive got a friend who a Kona might suit..hes recreational getting back into it & liked the standup paddle board as a sailboard at the demo day but wouldnt the Kona be similar but better in 20kts? The stand up you cant get footstraps for..?
I havent ever seen a Kona? Where do you get them & what are their specs?
Just wondered as I sold mine to a guy from your neck of the woods, and it's always nice to know how your children are going.
