well after getting dads old windsurfer up and running after about 20 years of sitting in the shed i have finally started to learn to windsurf, and im hooked! im not generally into water sports (unless its frozen and in powder form) but im loving it so far. now comes the hard part, learning on an old slalom board, i just have to convince the +1 that i should by a newer set up, but ill approach that subject once i have got the hang of it a little bit more. ![]()
Great to hear - it's more addictive than crack. Not that I personally know how addictive crack is. (You'd have to ask a kiter as I hear they do a lot of crack - not that there's anything wrong with that)
windsurfing is the best. once you get some speed WHOA!! beats masterbation any day (but you can still do both).
When I was young and into windsurfing, my friends who where surfers called me a wind wanker. So perhaps its true but perhaps its something they picked up from Tracks. I never really got into the bull**** at the break where you sat on your board for 20 minutes waiting for a wave for 30 seconds of fun. Better to go out and windsurf for an hour and have an hour of fun.
I don't know if homosexuals mastubate or not. If you are homosexual if you are masturbating are you having consentual sex with a male, who happens to be yourself, or are you just a wanker?
ah good to see that the rivalry is much like skiing vs snowboarding, skateboarding vs rollerblading, surfing vs bodyboarding. there is a common theme that skateboarders take up a sport and make it "gangster" thinking its cool but everyone else is content in the knowledge that pants around your ankles and caps worn backwards just makes you look like an puny little white boy who still live with mum and dad. ![]()
Yep you'll find on Seabreeze constant crap relating to kite Vs sail, and it's all in good fun (except for the kiters who mostly take it seriously
). Many threads such as yours, which start out innocent enough, degenerate into slandering, bickering, bitchfights, for no apparent reason. But hey, you're in Tassie, there's not enough kiters or sailors here to create any tension, so we just laugh at the mainlanders and their lack of wind.
To answer your question, no there's no schools here, but there's enough talented locals around (nup not including myself) that if you go to where it's happening then a friendly word asking for advice should see you going in the right direction. Where do you live/sail? There's basically 2 scenes in Hobart - there's a crew that sail on the Derwent from Long Beach (Sandy Bay, grassy rigging area, free hot showers), and if it's a seabreeze (summer months) the wind whips up the Derwent and the sailing is good, otherwise it's mostly offshore. As most winds are westerly, most sail on South Arm, at Ralph's Bay (Lauderdale - Doran's Rd) if it's from the west, or on a seabreeze at either Cremorne or Clifton beaches, or on Pipeclay Lagoon (Honeywood Drv, between Cremorne and Clifton). Find the spot where everyone is and come and introduce yourself, help will be at hand if needed.
PS: LAURIE -can we have a Tassie forum?
Im in north hobart, yeah watch the windsurfers down in s.bay when im up at my parents house occasionally, might have to pop down for a look one day. thanks for the info, heading to qld in june so might pick up a lesson there or two.
