HI guys, considering upgrading wave boards to one of the above, which would you recommend? I am favouring the 68 as its 2cm narrower than the 74.
I weigh around 70kg's and only sail when its around 20knots or more, I already have a 102 freestyle wave for the lighter days, sail mainly in port phillip bay in Vic, but do go in the surf when I can.
Am I going to see a big difference between the 68 and 74ltr?
Shouldn't you be workin!![]()
Sail after work? you might need one of these boards!
I reckon the 74! give you that extra bit of floatation! and being on 2cm, its hardly anything!
Get the pro edition mate, they are 1kg lighter!
See ya tonight, forwards here we come!![]()
Hmmm I would probably go with the 68 especially if you plan on using it with a 5.0 downwards. You have the bigger board so something narrow will be especially helpful when it gets really choppy in the bay.
Pro edition is definitely the way to go!!
the pro editions come with better quality fins and look much cooler, which is after all the most important thing when buying a new board. ![]()
If you only sail in 20knots or more and you expect to stay around 70kg for a while, then i'd be getting the 68 for sure. You'll be able to get more top end out of it for the really windy days and it will be more manuevrable.
For example I'm 78kg and ride an 80L board from 16 to 25knots. Any more wind than that and I struggle to get the rail in so I move down to my 75L. I can use the 75L quite comfortably down to about 18knots (steady).
If the wind's gusty or you plan to sail in less than 20knots then the 74 will get you through the lulls.
Hi. I had the 74 RWW last year and have the 68 RWW this year. I'm about 88kg so a lot heavier than your 70kg so I just use the 68 as a high wind board. I definitely think you should go for the 68 given you only weigh 70kg. You'll easily be able to get going in 20+ and you'll find the 2cm difference in width makes a lot of difference in sailing comfort when it's windy/bumpy and it'll be way easier for you carving up the waves. The RWW is a great board and will work well in combination with your FSW. Go the 68, you won't look back! BTW, I had pro edition last year and wood this year and both are good. I think in a board that small the wood is still really light and this years yellow wood edition looks SIC! Good luck and we'll see you on the water!
