we camped on the north shore right up at double island point over the weekend. there was barely a mouse farts worth of wind on the 10th???? me thinks another news major overhype
There was SFA wind yesterday, but dead on shore crappy Easterly @ 12-15knts,
clearly idiots at the helm, either (cliff Surfing, jumping off the cliff with kite as a mini paraglider) or just completly no idea/learning.
Luckily no one around that part of the world to harm, so safe spot to do it!
I kite also, just seems as more and more people take it up the % of idiots or people that will never be able to really master the basics will be on the increase.
Bit like car license/ car driving really.

I am not sure what actually happened. The photos I saw were of paragliders decked in the bushes. It's not all that unusual. The local club dishes out koala awards.
The story was that pilots should call in after a minor bingle to stop the rescue services attending when they were not needed. Apparently beach walkers called in the rescue even though the pilots were fine.
They even got a mention(artical ) in the WESTERN AUSTRALIAN PAPER page 10 or so.

TWO hang gliders came unstuck when they crashed into a sand dune cliff at Teewah Beach at Noosa North Shore at the weekend.
At 12.55pm on Saturday there were reports of two hand gliders stuck on the cliff about 200m apart.
Initial reports called for the AGL Rescue 571 helicopter to locate and rescue the hang gliders, however the call was cancelled when the pair freed themselves.
One man suffered bruising to his right calf.
Both hang gliders suffered minor injuries.
