I have just aquired a kite seat harness. Are they any good for windsurfing?
The one given to me is almost new and feels very comfortable, brand is 'Pat Love' (I kid you not) seems a waste not to use it, although I am curious about the handle on the arse??? Maybe it's for kiter road trips up to Broke Back Mountain or something. Has anyone ever tried one? (a harness not a kiter)
I use a Cabrinha seat harness as it was more comfortable for me than any other that I had tried.
You may wish to check that the spreader bar is not a kite one as they have a narrower waisted hook which would not be good for what we do.
i used a prolimit kite waist pro for 4 years. worked a treat.
handle is good for tying flares to for the ocean classic or a spare downhaul or tow rope to.
I used a Maui Magic seat for several years - very comfy with minimal wedgie tendencies.
The handle is great for hanging the harness up to dry.
Pat Love has been around for years/decades - as a windsurfing brand though..
more than likely it has a hammer hear hook, which is specifically designed to prevent unhooking, not good for windsurfers. See if you can swap the spreader bar out for an old one.
I've got a Flying Objects kite seat harness. Comfy as.
Apparently the handle is so kiters can hang on to their mates to stop them blowing away! ![]()
Cracked up when they told me that in the shop.
Agree totally with sandman, kite hooks have a narrower section to stop the chicken loop unhooking, sailboard hooks are parrallel.
In a crash you can end up under the sail still hooked in, even worse with a twisted harness line around the hook.
No probs with a sailboard hook just reach down and pull off the harness line. But a kite hook with the narrow section will hold the harness line on and a twist will lock it there. Really not a good situation unless you have gills.
