Hey Guys,
Have any of you heard about what's going on at Kyeemagh with the Desalination plant going in.
This web site says that area will be shut down for 25 months eek!
Right on Cook Park where we sail.http://www.planning.nsw.gov.au/asp/pdf/07_0054_chap9.pdf ![]()
A section of it is already shut down, the area directly in front of the baths. This doesn't affect the sailing, other than creating parking hassles. However they will be dredging across the bay so a mobile area of 200sqm will cordoned off for the dredging equipment. Hopefully this shouldn't impact too much.
gregfarq,
The work is well underway, and a large area is fenced off to the north of where we sail. If it remains as it is now, there will be minimal impact. Additional parking has been installed to compensate for the lost parking facilities in the construction area.
The situation may turn out to be beneficial, since a lot of the grassed area near cook park that is used for bbq'ing is unavailable, so maybe there will be less picknickers, and therefore less hassle finding a parking space.
Regards,
Harrow.
Yeah I know the other lot of construction has been going for ages now, but a mate heard something in the news about it being closed down for a while, and those documents suggest it too, but now looking at the maps we should be ok :)
apart from dredging.
Thanks for the input
So, the big questions is....when will that 2 months be? I don't care if it is June/July, but what if it is December/January. Anyone know?
Peak NE season is what the're waiting for - What else.[}:)]
Seriously - you would think they would programme it in for the doldrum's time of year -(Autum) when the wind would have less impact (resulting from inclimate weather) on their construction programme - they do (or did) have a 2 year window....
Last time they dredged there was a lot of slimy slush on the bottom, but no weeds. It felt pretty vile under your feet. Who knows what sort of s**t they'll dredge up.
