Good vid, who won the race to Kurnell? I'd put my money on you.

I had a similar sail the day before but the closer I got to Kurnell the stronger the wind. So I chickened out and sailed back to the safety of the runway.

Same thing here, i'd put my money on the windsurfer... As far as i remember, it's 8.8 kilometers, each time i did it, it took me around 15mn....

thanks guys! yeah i won by about 10 minutes i think. even though i fell off twice haha i couldn't believe the difference in pressure from kyeemah to just the other side of the runway! at least 5-10 knot increase.
it was an awesome run though!

Nice clip.
What was the wind direction ?
From Kyeemah to Kurnell is almost beam reach on a NE, but you looked a bit downwind at times?
Yeah, the wind is way cleaner past the strip...

It was a NE seabreeze. Yeah the wind is cleaner and stronger beyond the strip. I want to sail over to Kurnell one day. However once you venture past the runway you feel alone after windsurfing in close proximity with many others downwind of the airport. Suddenly alone with the wind building in strength and being on big gear making cruising easily through the lulls suddenly feel uncomfortable in stengthening winds and increasing chop. Past the runway you realise you are out in the middle of a very big bay.

Well done Bryce for sailing over there.

Thanks mobs. We've really got to go for a windsurf one of these days.
The breeze was more of a nne and yeah I was sailing 110-135 angles the whole way down. I'd love to try again in more steady breeze or a true seabreeze. I think you could easily do it in 15 minutes. Thanks guys for your kind words :)

When will Sydney have its next seabreeze? November 2012?
