WE usually get more wind in an El nino ( is that the name I've forgotten) . It seems it's swinging more towards La Nina this summer which I assume means more rain storms, low pressure troughs & less wind..? Not many summer NE's unless associated with rain ..??
NSW central Coast / Newcastle area.
What do others think? Hope I'm wrong.

So it's good down your way? It hasn't been that bad up here but compared to last season more NE's have been stuffed up by rainy weather and less strong ones.Plus we haven't been getting the Southerlie fronts through but maybe its too early yet ?
Windxtasy..bad season?
I'd love to live nearer Gerroa..I think I'd even venture back into the surf if I could go there!

I raised the La Nina thing in the SA forum in September. Less or more wind depends on where you live.

The northern beaches of Adelaide rely heavily on the SW seabreezes where as down south, Sellicks beach relies on SE channelling through gullies. El Nino is best for the SW where as La Nina is best for the SE.

The La Nina SE works against the SW seabreeze resulting in a bad inconsistent season for northern beaches.

Long story short, the La Nina is not expected to be a dominant this year and we've had a couple of seabreezes kick in at the northern beaches. But it's certainly far from ideal where I live.

i cant complain karl, sanctuary point is one of the best flatwater spots for a n/east in NSW + the wind strength is consistently 5knts's stronger, we have jervis bay in a southerly and arrives early enough to sail( 4 hrs before you guys) and we have lake illawarra for the westerlies, so far produced 42 kntsD]

Yeah I know there is great windsurfing down there. I lived in a few places around Wollongong for a while, Primbee and Willawarra. I had a board especially for the westerlies at Lake Illawarra, a Bombora 260.

I'd love to live near Jervis bay if there was a lovely quiet private large acreage 10 mins from the water ( that I could afford!)..
