Anyone sailed at Mallacoota before? Recommend a good spot there? Ive been there fishing but thats all. The front Lake is massive. Looks good on google maps.

Yep, lived there for years. The bottom lake is great, awesome flat water speed run over behind Goodwin Sands. Or down near the entrance (depending on where it is these days, it wanders around a bit.). Or out at Bastion Point - gets noice point break when it's on. Or blast over to Tullaberga or Gabo Island. I haven't been there for a few years now, but if you're in the pub or meet a local somewhere ask them if they know Easty. If they do, say g'day to them for me. Mallacoota rocks

Easty,

Whereabouts is Goodwin Sands? Is that part of the "bottom lake" - which I take is the bigger one closest to the inlet. Ive only been into the top lake when fishing launched from Gypsy Point.

Disregard Easty found it on another map. Will give it a try. Whats the best wind direction for the bottom lake?

Bottom Lake is best when wind is coming from the sea, so SW to SE. Don't forget your fishing rod - some monster flatties over by Goodwin Sands.
