When I was rigging my old sack of a 5.7m yesterday the mast pushed through the top of the luff..[}:)]I think I'm jinxed this year..I'll put it into a sailmakers for repairs but can you put a cap & adjustment on them or is it best to just replace the top of the luff tube? It was an old North Voodoo.
When this happened to me once and sail wasn't worth spending a repair on, I just drilled a hole through the top and nut and bolted it with a couple of big washers, looked bogan but did the trick ![]()

You mean the strap tore off?
If so doesn't cost much to unpick the first little bit of the luff tube and sew a new strap in - if you want adjustable you'll be paying extra for the buckle unless you find an old sail with an adjustable head, cut that off and take it to the sailmakers and then you're only paying 20min labour ![]()
Or did your mast poke thru the luff tube? Then again, about the same cost to patch it I guess
