Most of the big hotels at Walia and Kanapaali have fireworks after sunset.Good for the kids.
Otherwise dont expect much from Maui's nightlife and you wont be disappointed.
Just doing my duty in Honolulu at the moment then off to Maui on Thurs for a few weeks.Believe its been pretty windy.
Any idea where one can watch the S14 final live on Maui (mission impossible)?
Some of the Kiwis there may know.

not too worried about fireworks was thinking a few drinks in paia at charlies or dinner at wood fire pizza . Charlies si a bit of a sports bar - was a crowd of ppl in ther watching either basketball / gridiron whenever we dropped in . im sure if you are nice to the barstaff they could try and find the 14s

Last 2 days have been nuking - 4.7 weather for me but most ppl here were on 4.2s

Had some great afternon sails followed by a BBQ and a couple beers.

Hi Roar.

Chris C. from WSS mentioned that you were staying at either Kevin/Matt Pritchard's house on the beach there in Sprecklesville when we were discussing Maui a few weeks ago.

If so, what's that like? Are you getting any lessons from these guys?

Cheers

Wind can be a bit of a hit and miss during that time. Plus expect a fair bit of rain.

I went for 6 weeks October to December a few years back and hat some great sails. Good wave action but the wind was a bit hit and miss. Plus it often rained which would shut down the wind completely.

That said, it was still very warm during that time of the year.

Best time in my opinion to visit Maui is April / May. Especially if you are after Waves.

October to December I would recommend you try Geraldton and further North in WA. Plenty of warm weather already and if you go outside of holidays it's not too crowded yet. Plus there are usually plenty of waves around at that time of the year.

we staying at sprecklesville beach estate matt just set us up with the agent who runs it. Currently hiring gear off matt - 2011 gastra manics and tabou pocket wave . really nice gear to sail.
I might see if matt can teach me to do forward loops later in the week

Roar I am also in Maui now, staying in paia about 30 metres from Charlies, been sailing from kanaha but are normally upwind at specs to camp one, have also been on a 4.2 most days but the 4.7 day yesterday was the best, will drive down stable road and see if I can find your place. Jimbob.
Ps I'll be on a orange/white Ezzy3 and Starboard but have also had a few runs on next years ezzy's that Dave let me try.
