Apparently for the last movie, Four Dimensions, some shops only ordered a handfull, and sold them all..

Also I heard one shop on a windless lake in Germany bought and sold more copies than every shop in Australia..

We all probably stopped buying windsurfing movies because for a while they all had a JP interview in them..

Maybe it's quicker to order online?

Sorry I didn't answer your question. Why you don't just call 'em up?

My point was that from all reports the shops seem hesitant to stock them. Or just don't care about videos.

And that there is also an online service.

I'll try to be more helpful next time.

Hi. Well DVD are small and relativly cheap. And some people copy then. So some "older" shops miss to understand the power of DVD.

Also because there are many strange products out. But i do believe that high quality is demanded by windsurfers. And i believe that windsurfers like to pay a price for it. It is a mission to convice shops. But there is around 6 Shops in AUS who stock them. Also there will be a Premiere in Australia.

And if you ask your local shop... and he did not get it... maybe then he will get it...

I hope you all enjoy the film. All the best from Hamburg Hospital, Andre

Andre,

Did you consider digital download via iTunes or something similar, It would have been a quick and easy way of getting the movie out fast. I guess they have a cost involved that we don't know about and doesn't make it worth while.

I really enjoyed the movie, wasn't what I was expecting but still awesome. Rather then just the full on action that has been seen a thousand time before you have taken us on a journey, a journey that I think all windsurfers take every time we set out to sail. It doesn't matter how far we travel, overseas or just down to our local spot the movie captures that feeling we all get every time we head out. There are some really different camera shots in the movie which I've not seen in any other windsurfing movie and the rest of the cinema photography and soundtrack is brilliant, some of my friends found the pacing to be a bit slow but they don't get the whole idea, they aren't looking at it with a "mind wide open" they are just after the big jumps and crazy tricks.....Speaking of big jumps and crazy tricks. The crash bit in the extras is amazing, These guys really put themselves through the wars to get the shots, you can see and hear their emotions, Despair and excitement all in one mixed emotion.

Well done, Great movie...

good luck with sales - you deserve to sell 50 000 copies looking at the quality you guys went for with four dimensions.

any luck with downloadable content through itunes - or direct through the website ? - i reckon you would do a truck load of direct downloads this way - especially with the increase in media players in households

all the best with your treatment and i wish and hope to see you back at 110 % very soon

Hi Andre

Dad ordered your new movie months ago, it came last week and my mum got the mail while dad and I were not home. She wrapped it up for christmas and won't let us watch it till then .
But she did give me the poster which is now up in my room.
I have been watching the trailer, four dimensions and wet and salty over and over again to try and drive her mad. It isn't working though because she love loves them as much as I do.

I hope you get well soon and never have to go through this again.

I would really love to sail with you one day and maybe you can help me with my German and freestyle.

Frohe Weihnachten und gute Gesundtheit
Liebe Alex

SHQ Boardsports in Melbourne are expecting copies to arrive in-store in the next couple of days. Will be around $39.95 and should be able to buy copies on the website once they arrive. Can't wait to check it out!

Blue-Ray. Pleeeease. It's 2012 nearly, a lot of these films are shot on 16mm and they are still coming out on DVD.

I don't get it.

Just picked up a copy from Steve at Windforce - a box of them arrived as I was there collecting a new boom.

Looking forward to having a look!

My Streamlined snapped without warning yesterday as I was cruising on 8.0 in 15 knots, so I picked up a new Severne to replace it. There is not a whole lot of choice if you want a race boom at short notice.

We'll see how this one goes. The number 1 criterion for a boom, above all else, is that it doesn't snap without warning!

The Streamlined was the same boom I used to sail to Rotto and back, alone, earlier this year. As it happened this one snapped when I was about 500m off Peli Pt, so it could have been much much worse!

For anyone having trouble finding it locally, just order direct. It only took about a week, came with a signed poster etc.

Blue-Ray is dead too... just sell them as HD downloads via iTunes.

BTW, almost all of the videos you currently see where shot on either a DSLR or Canon / Sony HDV cam with some GoPro footage thrown in. From what I have heard most of The Windsurf movie II was shot on a Red One... but I might be wrong on that last bit.

They usually give it a film like look by doing a colour grade once the film is finished.

Digital distribution would be great. But iTunes sucks, as you are locking yourself into a very restrictive ecosystem. It basically means you need to buy an apple tv, which incidentally will only output 720p (bucket of aids) if you want to watch it on the big screen. Plus, apple takes a 30% cut!

So what other option is there? It's not like there is a big range of digital distribution options available that work world wide and don't require you to be a total geek.

Huh? Just get an HDMI adapter for whatever device you're using itunes on and off you go. No apple tv required.

I have to drag my computer into my living room? How is that convenient. With other content I can stream it wirelessly directly to my TV via my phone, computer from anywhere on the same network. iTunes for movies is worse then a DVD in my opinion. Pretty good for music, if you have an iphone, but what happens if one day you want to take your music to a non-apple device (I know that's blasphemy for apple fans). Like I said, the apple ecosystem is all about reducing choice and locking you into spending money with them.

https://buy.louisck.net/ for an example of digital distribution done the right way. Incidentally buy a copy, the guy is hilarious!

Just to explain a bit here. We do DVD because we do not have Budget for other solutions yet. BlueRay means: more production costs, you need to get long term membership etc.

Then there is digital service. We work on that. But it is hard as well. Every single Song on Minds Wide Open is licensed. In Totall we spent around 30.000EUR just for the music! If i wont to add on each signed contract the therm "Using Online". The costs explode. We are not "The Art of Flight". We are a Windsurf Movie and here we have to be a little carefull with investments.

Camera: We do not use the GoPro. In my eyes the GoPro is totally over used. I experiment with POV Footage 6 years ago. And the clips were unique. Now each Movie has GoPro. So it is not special.

We also almost never use our 7D SetUp as it is a nightmare to film fast action with it. We use it only for handheld footage. (Eating, Talking, everthing were we cant set up something bigger)

Our main Camera was the Panasonic ag af 101 with a Set of Nikon Prime Lenses.

Plus a Sony XCam Camera for Water, High Wand, Crane, Dolly etc.

Enough information. Sure there is coming a Making Of Article soon somewere on the web.

Merry Christmas,
Andre
