Was wondering if anyone knew what type of fin would've best for a mistral classic 295 I got the board for nothing and need a fin and fin bolt was just wondering what fin and size of bolt I would need to get it on the water
A fin with a powerbox style head should fit. the bolt is trivial - stainless steel to suit the thread in the head of the fin. Look at some ads in the "buy and sell" section to see what a powerbox fin looks like.

Probably more likely heavier breeze wave/free ride. (just blasting aroun really) Just an idea of an approximate length of fin
Is the width of the board printed anywhere on it? that is often more relevant to the fin choice than the length.
I had an F2 Ride 284 (130 L - 62cm wide) and it worked well with a 40cm fin. So that would probably be a good spot to start for your board, which is probably a similar width.
In terms of fin style, probably a basic upright slalom or slightly swept back freeride style fin in a G10 construction (yellow fiberglass looking) would be good. If you're just sailing back and forth there's probably no need to spend big bucks on a high end racing fin.

I would suggest something in concrete. Preferably over 20 Kg.
Attach to the board and then push it off a jetty somewhere.
This suggestion is only if you are going to try and learn with the board. If you are going to race it in a fleet, then the buy & sell is the place to be to find a fin.
Learning to windsurf on such a board, while not impossible, will be incredibly frustrating.
A bit like trying to learn to drive in a high performance car with slick tyres in the wet.
If you are keen, and want to keep on in the sport, check the buy & sell for 180Ltr plus, 2006+ wide, short learning board and you will be glad to chucked the mistral off the jetty.
