I hereby wish to state that Go Pro vision or any other on board/helmet cam vision gives me the absolute ****s.
I am over it! Stop it!
This is not meant as a personal attack on any one video, rather it is a culmination of many videos and pent up frustration.
Ahhh, that feels better.
Rad Lad,
Living in the South Sandwich Islands I thought you'd be sick of watching Deliverance (the only movie in the Video store). Maybe if we just send the movies to you first and you can decide which ones to post ![]()
It's probably not the gopro stuff per se, but more the lack of editing that makes some of those videos painful...
10 seconds is the absolute longest any clip should go for, before a cut.
i'm a big fan of people posting their Go-Pro. I think just like GPS, it's helping to invigorate the sport.
Windsurfing is usually an intensively solo activity...just you, your kit and the elements. the go-pro lets you take others along for the ride. it's allowing us to realise just how much our booms flex, how much of the board sits in the water, what it looks like when pro's do forwards, and how funny our faces look as we puff when the conditions crank. ![]()
bring it on i sez. i want moar!!!!
More pls!!!
I love watching people's clips. Some good editors out there too.
Just to anoy Rad Lad more - anyone know if you can post background music on them, on youtube without them pulling it for copyright?
Deleted my reply....
I've seen soundtracks credited. I don't think it makes much difference. I guess if your video became insanely popular then copyright may be an issue. Perhaps utube will let you know when it does become an issue.
I love watching peoples videos, even GoPro, but if to many people post unedited, long and shakey Gopro clips then it will turn people off watching anything.. Which is what has happened here with Deliverance. And the less people will click to watch when someone puts the effort in to produce their best edit..
So maybe I half support the notion to use the GoPro in limitation..
I like using TV themes as backing tracks. They last about a minute so you have to edit a fair bit to get the action in. I'm new at video editing and filming in general so its all a learning experience.
I can see the videos becoming a great record of my sailing. Something to watch when I'm old and decrepit.
I to, love watching other peoples gopro videos or any type for that matter, its why I bought one, (in fact two).
However my early videos are painful to watch to be honest, if You Tube allowed 10mins mine were 9.59 long!!! Over edited with every transition my editing software would allow.(how often do you see that on Telly? You don't)
Long, long sequences(agree with Nebbian 10 secs max), dodgy quality ie water spattered on lens, shaky etc etc
I try to be brutal with the editing and only keep the best quality and most interesting but still learning heaps about the editing. That's all part of the fun.
My whole stance has improved by looking from the boom and mastcam shots so there's some real value. Yes and one day you will look back and go... yep that was a good day...
I'll be making my debut soon with my Lumix...I'll include the 20 minute drive down to the beach and the rigging as well....just to get you warmed up for the 10 secods of sailing vid. ![]()
don't forget, it won't be complete without filming yourself with yer kitesurf / windsurf mates doing something silly in the hotel room, like lighting eachothers farts or microwaving the neigbours cat
