I'm going down to the Batemans Bay area this weekend for a mountain bike race on Sunday - Mogo to be precise. Staying the weekend by the coast just east of Mogo.
Saturday forecast looks pretty fierce with up 35 - 40kts and massive swell so I'm bringing the windsurfing gear as well.
Given the NSW south coast Saturday forecast, where in the Batemans bay - Moruya area can I find manageable wave conditions? Any suggestions on spots in the area will be most appreciated.
Cheers,
Staffan
Not sure but possibly somewhere in Batemans Bay itself depending on the swell and wind direction. I've stayed there a couple of times. The river mouth looks fairly open to easterly swell. Perhaps if its a southerly swell it will wrap around a point.
Of course not Tim,
just a bit distracted while googling "positions vacant". Can assure you this place has been ground truthed by my most reliable sources. When Tomakin's good it's epic. Maybe I should check it out myself this w'end, can always go down to Coila if it's too epic.
it's blowing 25-30K ESE here...unfortunately I happen to be on the end of a paintbrush. All of us apparently have to at some time go back to work. Big SW coming thru on Sat/sun, gonna exercise my Fathers Day rights and disappear for the day. Is that how it works in your experience? or is one compelled to do something familyish?
hope you get a good sail anyway.
excellent..i'll let the powers that be know. It's good to have such a great reference source.
wife -"who said that?'
ws husband-" I think you'll find this under www.seabreeze.com.au thread xxyzzq12... I rest my case"
wife-"ah yes, of course, thanks for setting me straight. see you tonight!'
Staffan,
Head South to Broulee. You have two beaches/ The Southern beach where the surf club is, always has a wave, whether at the northern end of the point or down the South end of the Moruya break wall.
I cant vouch for wave sailing there but you will have plenty of choice in that area wind/swell direction dependant. Good surfing spot. Tomakin worth a look too. Big lake either side of town. Plenty surf beaches South of Moruya, turn left out to Bingi and South of there. Worst comes to worst head further South to Tuross Head. Bring good wettie. Water temp around 13c
Great part of the world. Further south the better and no crowds. DONT TELL ANYONE.
Thanks for the advise, looking at google earch there appears to be quite a few options around the area.
Cheers,
Staffan
