Hey y'all (Newbie from the surfing forum)

So after getting smashed in yesterdays 20 knot or so winds, I'm thinking I need to pick up a wind sport so a bit of wind does not stop me from hitting the beach.

I'm keen to take up Windsurfing and was wondering if you guys know whom or where I can go to grab lessons from and equipment? It's not like surfing where almost every beach has at least one school teaching everyone.

Cheers for the advice and hope you all had a good Christmas and holidays!

Don't attempt it unless your in for the long haul !!! It takes along time to learn and can drive you over the edge with frustration. But if you stick at it you will wreak reward and accomplishment.

Pretty sure there's a school still at Balmoral - have a look.
Important: go there (to learn) only on NEers, don't bother with the southerlies we're getting currently.

Windsurfing is a difficult thing to learn, which makes it the most rewarding.
Other activities are easier, but then you're only pride will be that you learned something easy to learn - will leave you empty.

Good luck.

No worries boys, the amount of times I've gone over the falls surfing, been caught in between sets or just made a fool of myself generally, I'm keen for the challenge. Think I might just save up a bit more before I start cos I'll be keen to grab a board and sails to get myself out there
