I'd like to know what the impact of a shipping channel will be on the swell?

As well as SpotX disappearing it could mean Coro will be more affected than people think.

Very surprised there is not more concern and opposition to loosing a great windsurfing venues. Surely there must be other spots where a port could be built.

This follows on from earlier posts by loza and Rad Lad. (I was there just a couple of weeks ago)

There are other venues you can windsurf.

Perhaps the reason we have the cash and leisure time to windsurf is because somebody built a port ?

Not the case with SpotX Carantoc

The port can go 20km either way no problems. Spot X is pretty unique in the number of sections of breaking wave and it is the best wave spot for a long, long way.

They have arbitrarily chosen the position and not listened to the users of the site, when they could move it just down the road (where nobody eses the beach) for no extra cost.

As to the channel - could improve the swell at Coronation as the deeper water will allow swell to travel better?
I can't see any impact on Coro's but you never know...

The site was chosen because politically well-connected individuals purchased cheap land there many years ago. They are not going to let a bunch of surf-bums get between them and their financial windfall. Besides, soon it will make everyone in Geraldton wealthy and they will all live happily ever after.
