A wise man told me there's a old NP vid called FastForward with a crazy barefoot skiing windsurf trick. I can't get hold of this movie anywhere.
Is there a website or some place where these old movies end up free for distribution or something?
I've found a trailer for it here:http://www.stableroad.com/videos/ffspeed.mov
gday,
not sure which vid it was in, but there were 4 neil pryde vids late 80's, fast forward, instant replay, moving target and rigmarole.
they were the best vids i had seen at the time, they are still better than the new vids I have seen. non stop unreal sailing action.
i think the trick you are referring to was a body drag type thing, where they stay on their feet.
I remember one of those with some guys jumping through each others sails.
some how I also remember Polakow launching off as wave and going out of shot straight up and the camera starts searching for him.
I could be getting confused by the time since then but it would be great to see again.
The polakow vid you are referring to is Heart and Soul (Gaastra) with pre-pubescent Pritchard brothers (bloody funny), produced by Robert Masters who did the NP ones.
The barefoot body drag is done by Rush Randle on fast Forward I think. Instead of doing the normal step off, bear away and get back on body drag he does it like a skiier, both feet forward. Looks cool too.
I have it on VHS!
All shot in Maui by Robert Masters and it's got a fair bit of Bjorn, Mark Angulo and Rush Randle. Then there's Laird Hamilton screaming through Camp One on a tiny speed needle.
It does also have several incidents of deliberate crashes with sails being torn by fins. Not sure about the body drag trick.
If you'd like to borrow it then PM me. Otherwise someone who is skilled at transfer to DVD may like to have a crack.
As a younger windsurfer, who has never seen these vids or grownup with the 80s windsurf boom, it'd be great to grab a copy of these on DVD.
Does anyone have the facilities to rip VHS to DVD - obviously only for the films no longer in shops/distribution?
Happy to put in a few bucks to cover this to grab a copy, if someone keen to make it happen.
