If you mean online, go to www.stableroad.com
If you mean VHS, then I threw them all out or lost them years ago.
I've got a few old VHS movies - including the one where the boys are sailing a door, complete with handle still on it.
I think we need to find an old door, and revive the sport!
Tradewinds. Real good classic. Has Fred Haywood smashing 30 knots at Weymouth. I think it was made around 1984.
Somewhere I have a copy of 2 other video's, on the one VHS cassette
See, I have been around a while.
Right you are Stewie!
Tradewinds it was - it was Mike Waltze sailing the door - yes Haywood was in it too. I can recall it playing endlessly as I worked a Perth windsurfing shop around uni lectures in the early/mid 80's.
I think it was a Jack McCoy flick.
i've got the original bombora video from just after the dromedary was released, early eighties,
and i just lent it to haircut to copy, hope he's looking after it! ![]()
I've got a couple too, got Tradewinds, Blown Away which was a Bob McTavish production plus the follow up (which has Fred Haywood at a WA speed event which even has footage of a certain number '25' in it ;)) but I can't remember it's name, got 2 Pryde vids, Rigmarole and Fast Forward, got Van Diemens Land by Butterfly taped somewhere and a Polakow movie but can't remember its name either. ![]()
I use to have a good video, taped off Wide World Of Sports from about 1984. It was set to Midnight Oil song, "Power & the Passion" it was some gents sailing Long Reef in Sydney on a big day. Really good, shame I still dont have it.
i got a few, Aloha Classic 2, and the early Pryde movies, and Windrider somewhere Would love to get hold of the Tradewinds Movie. someone needs to release all the old ones on DVD.
Yeah used to have them all, Tradewinds, Blown Away, Wind Warriors, the NP ones, The Polly one was titled KA1111.
Can't say I ever owned Windrider though...
Would be good to see them re-released to DVD.
I have 3 or 4 hours of stuff taped off TV from the 80s and early 90s including the coke invitational at Long Reef that got full coverage on wide world of sports plus most of the videos mentioned. They're all back at my parents house though as I don't own a VHS player
hopefully they haven't been taped over...
Ha I'll hassle Mr Waltze for a copy of that one.
Does anyone remember Wavesailing Women form the early 80's?
Any spare copies hanging round I am prepared to pay for some footage!!
Fear not.
The old KA1111(1992) along with the about time one which he made in 2000 (which IMO is still the bench mark) was put on a single dvd not long ago.
I found that Wavesailing Women at the local video shop for $3. I gave it to a mate for a birthday present.
I could check if you want.
Saw a few of the NP videos being made back in the late 80's on Maui, great times![]()
I used to do as squid lips did and sit in front of wide world of sports to tape any sailing on it. I have the OP internationals from diamond head, the indoor stuff, polakow interviews, the coke events from longreef, wanda and maui plus all the old speed event coverage - remember laird forward looping his speed board over the back of the shorebreak?
I still have all the pryde, north and gaastra tapes from 89 to today. anyone remember rushwinds twin geeks with sargeant "loop" the double loop master from the gorge.
I must have over 40 vhs and 20 odd dvd's
saw on "water rats" once a high speed chase after a baddie getting away on a windsurfer.(sydney harbour) I reckon he would of gotten away if he hadnt kept on doing specky jumps etc.![]()
Stewie,
I've still got the wide world of sports Midnight Oil, "Power &Passion" Vid. I also have one set to Van Halen's "Jump" from even earlier. Halcyon days! Can't believe how long the booms were that we used back then. The sails were like spinackers, "twist" was still just a dance. How they controlled those things in 30+ Kts..... and the harness hooks still pointed UP! ![]()

Yes it was rhowie and his characters name in Water Rats was.....
wait for it.....
"BOOM BOOM"
