The other day,
I was checking out the surf and wind conditions at my local winter reefbreak kitespot.
I stood on the elevated boardwalk with a couple of poleys that I knew,
and we watched four surfers scrambling for a set and two poleys on sup-sailboards chugging out thru the break.
The wind had been a lot stronger earlier on but it had gone to pus.
The angle was good and the waves were favorable.
The sup-sailboarders were falling off a lot and the poleys on the boardwalk were laughing and giving them sh1t.
It occurred to me at the time that kiters aren't the only sailors who ride strapless in waves.
After watching them for awhile, I was reminded of the destruction I had seen when I had first arrived at the spot.
I had noticed some malicious damage had been done to the lush lawn which is used as a rigging area.
Someone had sprayed round-up or some kind of poison to scorch the grass to make large letters which formed two words.
I said to the poleys;
"Did you see the message written on the lawn using poison"?
The poleys turned away from the waves and looked back at the grassed area.
Only an hour ago they had been rigging up their sails on the grass but apparently they had not seen the obvious.
Their blank expressions told me that they were none the wiser.
From where they stood, the words were upside-down and running from right to left.
I translated the message for them, it read:
NO SUPS
They looked at the large brown words that contrasted with the lush green grass.
One of the poleys chuckled cause a neighbour of his had a similar event happen to his lawn ...
except the message had read FK U (with a UC).
I said that the NO SUPS sign was just so not right ...
and the poleys all agreed with me.
They said it was totally retarded cause the dude had got the words wrong.
They said it should read:
NO BAGS.
That cracked me up.
I lol'd.

Hmmm, interesting that. I still wouldn't trust that WA education system for some reason though.
