Queens has been providing some good sailing in the past few weeks. I took a few shots on Sunday 29 March which was an fantastic 5.0 day. I'm a new convert to this great spot.
SSE. Nice and flat near the beach. Rather large swells out the back. The runs back in are awesome - you can just charge down through the troughs.
Yay, this is my home spot!
Some of the other exciting benefits include... high-tide: I walk out 10m to waist deep water; low-tide: I walk out 15m to waist deep water (beats trekking through the mud at Wello!).
There's good swell there in either NE'ers or SE'ers and you can park your about 15m from the water and rig on perfect grass with plenty of shade if needed.
Nobody seems to believe me about this point, but if you look at wind stats for Brisbane on any given day in a SE'er it is ALWAYS 5 knots windier at Redcliffe/Scarborough than in any other part of the bay or either coasts.
ikw777 - next time you're out say hi. I'm the guy who's usually sailing an 11m when its really NOT 11m weather ;)
Time for another wanderers meet soon Gestie? I always enjoy sailing redcliffe area, wish I'd realised how good it is years ago when I was working 5 min down the road.
I waited too long to start sailing here. Always thought my skills weren't good enough. The days that I have missed out on don't bear thinking about!
So we got up to 30 Knots this afternoon. Made look like a complete fool. The regulars took it in their stride however.
no mate you did great, big board, (new) sail, Q is your new home beach
Sean is right about wind strength...good fetch in both directions
