Hi, I think this has been mentioned before, but if I want to run my 5.8m 2009 Koncept on an RDM, where do I get the cams? KA?
Are there any other cams that might fit, or are the KA RDM ones special?
The RDM I have is a 430cm Ezzy.
As I had a few sets of Ezzy RDM cams lying around from my Infinities and no KA RDM cams (yet), I decided to see if I could try them with the KAs.
I looked for the first time at the cams on the KA's. They look suspiciously like Gaastra cams, and are located by the end of the batten the same way as the Pryde sails, except they are using layers of sailcloth instead of the molded part NP use.
After thinking through various complicated methods to add a spacer to these, I decided I would try a simple bit of plastic between the cam and the batten, and what do you know, it seems to work.
I think I read about using reinforced hose for this on another posting. Are the KA RDM cams similar to the Ezzy ones, in that they have the pigtails out of the cams? These normally fit into a pocket in the Infinities that you vary based on the diameter of the mast.
Surprisingly I got the fit right the first time. Was it luck, or is there a certain amount of tolerance you can get away with?
Anyway, here are some photos, with the first one showing the KA cam, and then the Ezzy one matched to a NP batten molding, and my special spacer.
Do you think these will do the job? I haven't had a chance to sail it yet, but the cams seem to meet the mast fine, you can pop them on okay, and rotation on an Ezzy 460 RDM feels perfect.

My only comment is did you contact the Love Master ?
That's a bit of a root around when you could have the real deal FN, I'm too lazy for that and would have just got the right ones

contact the Love master, he will be keen to help you out. I broke a cam once from rigging my sail thre wrong way. So I rang ka and love sent me a whole set of brand new cams staight away for nothing like a day or two later. You are best emailing Love on here tho now I think.. Love really does love his windsurfing and is really keen to help other windsurf dudes out
We are actually out of the correct RDM cams at the moment, some on the way from the Factory now. Andrew does have some other RDM cams which he is using on the Moth sails, just not sure how many of those he has either , will check.
I actually have one sitting next to my computer at the moment and will root around and see if i can find a couple more
Your Ezzy solution looks OK to me although the "tongues" that stick back and the hose will put a bit of a lump in the luff sleeve when the batten is rotated and could cause a wear point long term.
