Just took delivery of this sail ,a 7.2m and had a problem rigging it the way the company says. I've got a 2008 5.8 m RS Racing sail as well and have had no problems rigging that according to the NP instructions .
But this 7.2 which has the same rigging instructions would not let me get the bottom cam on the mast at all ,and even when releasing the batten adjuster lock there was no way it would go on .I derigged and started again but this time I fead the mast thru the bottom cam and not the others and finished rigging without a hitch.........has anyone else noticed this anomaly ?

Please tell us how you tried to rig the sail, the procedure you used.
In my experience they are an easy rigging sail if you do everything right.
sometimes if you pop the cams starting from below rather from the top gets a bit too tight..am sure you release the downhaul completely with the outhaul secured halfway or near specs
Down haul around 3/4's
Outhaul as much as you can
Release the downhaul
Pop the cams on by pushing down on the batton at the seam on the inside of the luff pocket and pushing in from below the cam, Starting from the botom
Pull the downhaul back on and finish of outhaul

As you know i have a 7.8 RSR, I find the best way is to outhaul as close to the final setting as poss(after the initial downhaul) and release the downhaul until it is almost slack. The cams go on top to bottom and I push gently at the base of the cam inside to pocket while slipping the cam onto the mast. I'll check it out next time we catch up on the water.

thanks decrepid for stating the bleeding obvious, other comments prove the writers have never rigged the sail. elmo didn't have a fricken clue how to rig the sail

That was the method which Niel Pryde posted for RS4's which I rig, unfortunately it's no longer on their web page to justify my insanity

Bit of difference to the method I use, but I can generally rig my sails not much slower than I can rig a wave sail without busting a hump.
If you want to advise an easier method rather than having a spray, I'm happy to listen learn and try.

I have the 6.7 RSS Mk II.
Slide the mast up the sleeve on TOP of the cams/battens.
When mast wont slide anymore, stop pushing.
Put one hand in boom cutout and with other hand reach up as far as possible and gently drag the luff sleeve down the mast until mast tip is seated in head of sail.
Pull excess down mast by using the handle on the foot of luff.
Make sure female mast cap is inserted all the way in male sail tip
Add 3/4 downhaul or until mast is showing in the boom cutout.
Attach boom and outhaul until nearly at specs.
Release downhaul.
Starting at top cam you can either put one hand on sleeve where wide luff meets body of sail and push down while other hand cups the cam and helps push up.
Cam should pop on very easy.
Or, put hand inside luff sleeve and push down on end of cam while pushing up with other hand on underside of cam.
Make sure all cams are seated square on mast.
Apply downhaul to your satisfaction and adjust outhaul to conditions.
Using an adjustable outhaul is definitely the go for these sails.
Like others said they are very easy and quick sails to rig and the camber rotation is the best Ive ever seen.
Also remember that with a new sail they need to "stretch" for the first hour or so on water or a couple of sails.
Then adjust batten tension to smooth out wrinkles only.
Too much tension and you will do damage.

I have the RS:Slalom 6.7 MKI as well. The rigging instructions are exactly as you have said for the MKII. The Neil Pryde website videos have good instruction.

your right there, just follow the instructions and tune to personal preference.
Sam at WSS gave me some small tips as well as Im new to NP stuff.
The sails do tend to stretch into themselves quite nicely after a few goes.
Sometimes you can also put TOO much outhaul on. Dont force anything is the main thing.

The instructions on the luff of my RS slalom say "outhaul loosely" and once you find the optimum looseness the cams are very easy to pop on.
The NP video shows the bloke adjusting batten tension with no mast in the sail! That's a bit odd, as the batten tension takes up on the mast. But the over centre batten latches do make it easy to judge batten tension, your judgement is not affected by grit or salt as with screws and threads. I'm not sure about using wrinkles as a guide, there always seems to be a tighter panel on one side of each batten, manufacturing tolerance, you'd need an enormous amount of tension to stretch it enough to take out the wrinkles on the looser side.
Right on with the outhaul Larko.
That bottom cam is always the hardest and is the one where doing it properly matters the most.
Outhaul should be a around 5-10ish cm from where you'd sail with it, if you over outhaul the sail at this point it's hard to create the space needed in the luff pocket to get the cam on. At this point let the downhaul off fully. If the bottom cam is still being stubborn then let off a bit more downhaul but it should go on easily if things are right. Another little trick with the foot cam is put your hand inside the zip and push directly on the cam rather than the luffpocket. I do this last one at times with the 10.7 and 11.6 and it means you don't have to release the downhaul quite as far.

Just to add on from what Sam said in his last bit of advice.
I also do this with the cam/cams on the RS Racing 7.8 I have as well.
So it seems to work on both Neil Pryde race/slalom models.

Thanks to all for the input. As I said I rigged it the same way as my 5.8 RS Racing as the instructions on the sail and the book say.
Put the mast in on top of the cams etc ,downhauled it but not to max, so the mast moves toward the pocket as they say , then outhaul 5cm approx ,ease of the downhaul ,the cam pockets are open of course and at this stage the top two cams can be put on the mast easily but that bottom one is under mast and pushing against the luff pocket . To force the cam when it is like that would tear the luff fabric ,at first I thought that perhaps the cam was not seated correctly down on the batten pocket but it was'nt and was the same as the others .To look at it appears as though the cam is too long but it must be OK as when I got it rigged by passing the mast thru the cam first it was looking normal and the sail rotated although a little stiff as it was dry and needs to be stretched in a bit I guess. By the way I popped the cams from the top down as they say and the cam tensioners are on minimum till I stretch it in. I wonder if it just this size that has the problem as I tried rigging many times with slightly different setting each time to no avail till I finally cheated by putting the mast thru the bottom cam first. Again thanks for the help and Thanks Tim I'll try to get out this weekend on it.
hi brick,i have a 7.2 rs slalom mk11 rigs fine on a x6 and x9 as per rigging instructions.your earlier model freeride mast(pre x series i guess) will be a different diameter and bend curve (slightly) and maybe/most likely is where your problem is.if unsure go to your pryde dealer and try a x6 mast.hope this helps
