Wow, it is getting a bit crazy having shops advertise their individual boards and sails in the Buy & Sell section imo. Don't get me wrong, I am all for supporting the local shops etc but this is just getting a bit crazy, especially when the shops have their own websites with exactly the same stuff anyway. Is it possible to have a private & retail filter or something like that...? - cycling websites do it all the time eg www.bikeexchange.com.au/

Big Al, you may want have another look at the buy and sell options - a filter already exists

I agree it can often be an issue if there where large quantity of product exists (eg Trucks cars etc) but windsurfing??? I would rather have dealers list rather than have to chase individual sites

Maybe a limit, like say 4 sails and 4 boards..

I don't mind shops advertising. It's not like they are pretending to be private sellers.

Nothing wrong with it. You can easily filter them out. I struggle to see the negatives, why would you want "less" choice?

And to be honest, its not like there is that much stuff up there.

I'm totally for having all the windsurfing products for sale australia wide on one site.

though i found it annoying to see pages of new adds from one shop before reaching private sales.

if there is a filter, great, now we are all aware of it.

Interesting, isn't it.

As a few guys suggest, there is a "Private / Shop" filter on the main Buy&Sell page if it really bugs you. If you're after some second hand gear, how cool is it to look through pretty much the definitive list of all second hand gear in Aus, all in one spot.

Speaking with some shops today, some shared that it's been great that they can readily take trade-ins now, knowing they can list them in the Buy & Sell .. which again, is a good thing for people buying new gear & 2nd hand gear.

Sometimes they do indeed clump together, and they are occassionally 'shuffled' to try and avoid this.

Regards the search - here's a time saver: Your search is remembered for you, so next time you want to look using the same criteria, you don't need to set it up again. Just look down the screen on the main Buy & Sell page and you'll see "My Recent Searches"

Dont get me wrong as i am only a very minor customer of the store but he has some huge bargains sometimes. (mabey all the time)

Notice he doesnt recycle his adds back to the top of the list either.(now that IS annoying)

Now if only he sold more Starboard/Severne.

personal adds have to pay (for photo adds), so i would assume the same applies to the shops.

What really annoys me is one of the shops in W.A. who IMO is over-priced and out of touch with the market is still advertising 07 boards new at just on $2k. C'mon, other shops are moving 2010 rival models for less than that....and those boards have 2, 3 or even 4 fins!
But hay, leave it on the shelves for a few more years, the write-off on stock items must be great.

Thanks for the advice, I found the filter - eeediot..!
For what it's worth I don't have an issue with the shops - I hope they get sales from their efforts.

I saw that aswell :P
Some of the prices are just complete jokes,
There was a BRAND NEW 2004 FREESTYLE BOARD FOR ONLY $1200,
online a couple months ago :P
While Swoosh went and bought a 2010 Fanatic Skate Team Edition for $1400.
I think i would prefer to spend the extra $200

I have to say, if you don't like the price, don't buy the product.
Ranting about it on forums is much more annoying.

Isn't that the purpose of forums.... to discuss...

If you don't like the forums... don't read them...

If I saved someone a few $$$ by educating them. I win MrHo

I agree, i got completely ripped off when starting out due to the fact i was ill informed.

If i had read threads like this i may not have thrown my cash at a seller who was taking advantage of a naive newcomer to great sport.

I don't mind store's advertising, if nothing else you can tell a bit about the quality of the store by how 'realisistic' their prices are. They just do themselves a disservice by assuming readers of this forum don't know whats a fair deal. By the way there's plenty of private sellers that want stupid prices for old stuff.

H ave to agree, being able to look at all those listings and compare prices with the private market and then ask the opinion of forum readers is great , realistically it keeps the retailers from diddling newcomers , who then go back for more gear. it must be rather annoying when a dodgy retailer thinks theyve managed to sell some old tat to a newcomer for a huge price, then the rotters go ask advice of seabreezers

Oh H.C the man in the white van touched me a few times. Still I think Karma probably got him, did you know he was run out of Marjorca, something to do with used cars.

I'd hardly say it was a rant - he informed us that one shop charges much more (fact).
