Such sad news. I don't have the words. I never meet him but did follow him, we have lost a great windsurfer and filmmaker and most of all great bloke. Hope his family are doing ok.

Have met a few others in similar situations and the overwhelming message from them all was to go and live your life and dont wait for some illness or accident to happen before you make a change .

Very sad. I enjoyed his films immensely, he captured the spirit of the sport. I also respected his approach to life and his illness. RIP

This is very sad news indeed! Andre made the windsurfing world a better place and brought it to life for the rest of the world to enjoy through his films. He was a fantastic guy to deal with and he will definitely be missed. Our thoughts are with his family and friends. Thanks and Goodbye Andre!

This guy is my hero, amazing strength to keep pushing forward.
Very sad that he didn't get more time. Andre set the standard for windsurf films IMO and he has left some beautiful work behind which will stand the test of time.

Personally I feel the very same about the littler (?) known sailors that I've been in contact with over the years.
Lesser known types at Narrabeen or B-Bay or Wanda, or those met at comps or just sailing overseas.
There are a few that departed us from the olden days when me was young and learning the uphaul.
Every time a bit of reminiscing sets in for a day or 2. The regret for not having kept more in touch.
Then life resumes - these good people and good times are just not forgotten, ever.
