Seems like a snorkeller has been taken by a shark this morning off my local beach here at Port Kennedy. Plenty of emergency crews scouring the area as I write.
Happenened pretty close to Cote D'Azur Gardens beach.
Warnbro Sound may be closed today?

Just got back from having a look. There are three helicopters, police, surf rescue, boats, quad bikes, clubbies .. they're putting in a heap of effort to find something.

I forgot got camera & phone, but there are camera crews from every channel so there will definitely be something on the telly tonight.

They are still searching for the missing man.
Shark was sighted close to beach at 3rd car park then headed south later this morning, with boats following. Reliable report put the size at 4 to 5m.
After lunch a shark was spotted near Penguin Island, whether the same one or not.

Just saw some footage on the news here in Sydney.
Seems he was taken only meters off the beach and his son was snorkelling with him at the time. The family have requested the shark not be destryed if found.
Condolensces to his family.
Suggestions it was a large great white.

Depth up to 2.5 to 3 m if they were out near the weed line. Less obviously if closer to shore.
The weed line is probably 30m from the shore line
