Looking at getting some faster fins. Apparently some are for Slalom, and some are are for Race. I'm struggling to see what the difference could be between the two. I thought slalom was racing...

Can anyone enlighten me?

Slalom is all about speed and gybing, there is no upwind considerations.... I guess a race fin needs to be more of an all-rounder

Generally slalom fins have more rake, as the whole idea is keep speed up through the gybe. Though a race fin will do the job in slalom if you go down a size or two, the opposite doesn't quite work as the extra rake in slalom fins reduce the upwind capability.
check out what others are using in your area, or chat to your nearest retailer as they may have demos.
