I could. The time was available.
The family did not care if I went for a couple of hrs.
It was 25-30kn.
I am 300m from the beach...

But I drank beer from 1100 - 1300 and had a big lunch and fell asleep

Please..... tell me you went for a sail, and your wife threatened divorce or something... it will make me feel better about missing an epic sesh today

I sat at the f###ing beach for a couple of hours with 4 other bachelor windsurfers, debating whether it would blow more than 2 knots...

...I think it gusted to 3 knots a few times

I got rinsed and washed many times at Lano. Probably a good thing otherwise my pants would still be brown from the size of the waves (not used to half mast or bigger).

Managed one ride for the whole afternoon, only about 6 other sails (at the most) out.

Paid for it when I got home though

Went down to Wello and looked at the ripply water. It was quiet - lots of different ethnic family picnics. I briefly contemplated some lw freestyle in the 6 knots available, got a phone call, went home to play Scategories and lost.

Didn't even have a beer. However it was a strangely satisfying day. The pills must be working.

So that was you on the green sail. Looked like you were getting some good waves.

Weren't you worried what would happen if you had a breakage? Next stop, India.

And you're the guy who's always preaching that people shouldn't be so fussy about the conditions!!!

I have a couple of times when me was younger - as a stunt.

Sailing in that cold water is close to suicide. Actual problem, more than the cold, is that there is no safe access to water, since shores are all iced up... plus no possibilities of rescue in case of problems...

Perhaps fatherhood has tamed me a bit...

Happy NY all.

Does Boxing day count if you spent Xmas afternoon checking over gear. ?
Amazing day out with my schooner, whole family SAILED ( a first) and the kids all began learning to stand on a sailboard.
First sail fuly rigged in 2 years due to lack of water.
Entire family went home happy( an absolute first)

That one lives at the Yard, its 11'6" longer than the shed, fortunately it was built in 2 pieces and hinges in the middle. It looks like this when it sails past you

thanks. took 3 years to build, but cost only $3400 , then another$1400 for the OB .. only 5hp so no skippers ticket reqd. In no wind you can even row it.. only draws 200mm with the boards up.
needs a crew of 4. Absolute min 3.
. But does boxing Day qualify?

2 weeks down the creek, so its still fresh, when the silt clears it is becoming saline, the light gets in an the algae starts to grow, so you make the most of it. There is a pump up by the wall going 24/7 so it wont last long. the fresh water means huge savings on chemicals to nuetralize the bore water before putting it through a gold mill.
