As stated in yesterdays introduction, I have a Starboard Start and it seems to similar to a Formula board (Not performance wise obviously).

Can I get a Start to plane more easily with a Sail upgrade? I was thinking that I should add to my quiver anyway and currently only run a 5.7 sail. I was thinking of a 7.5 for the lighter days.

Bear in mind it this board is pushing along a 6 foot 4, 115kg and I currently plane around the Northern beaches of Brisbane.

Any comments/ thoughts would be appreciated.

Later Days,

I used a GO 150 until just now, and it started to feel like a barge (like the START). I am now trying to learn to sail a smaller board and it is a BLAST.

My recommendation is just go down to say a 135 litre board and upgrade yo skillz. It is WORTH IT!

I have a better planing board in the Bic Techno, it just seems that the wind is never up enough.

AC is my family. I'm long gone from any sort of structure...

The start can definitely benefit from a larger sail and with your size it might be good to go even larger than 7.5 but that is probably a good step up and a larger sail might give too much of a gap.
The start will probably benefit from a larger more efficient fin (like a Formula type fin in the 55-65cm range) as well, especially with the larger sail.
