Howdy all, firstly the advice i have been given for treating tennis elbow and sailing with it has worked a treat. The pain is still there but atleast im on the water.
Im looking for someone who wouldnt mind giving some casual lessons, im happy to pay. I just want to cover getting the best out of my gear, setting up and general sailing technique ( im sure i need lots of help there )
Thinking of going away for a weekend sailing and camping can anyone recommend any places?
sail safe

If you are down by the water or in the carpark and need some tips I am sure other windsurfers will be happy to help out.
What level of skill are you at?
If you are into flat water sailing you would enjoy going to Pacific Palms. You can camp there. Hawkes Nest is good and there is a caravan park there.
My wife and I are planning to go to Umina or Pearl Beach on the Central Coast, this weekend, weather permitting. Even if the wind doesn't blow (which is probable) we hope to enjoy some light wind wavesailing in smaller waves. You and anyone else is welcomed to join us.
Hi Lee
I'm new to this too, have had great fun learning & got some decent gear now.
I find almost everyone round sydney (Botany,Narrabeen,Long Reef ) helpful with all you need to know. Have had heaps of guys come up & help me with rigging & sailing.
little bit of advise & a lot of sailing each time is all you need.
If you see me at any spots come say hi, Usually had shaved head in blue holden ute.
Thinking of going away for a weekend sailing and camping can anyone recommend
If you're going north there is the camping ground at the northern end of Lake Cartharaba, just north of Noosa where you can camp on grass next to the waters edge on a big lake that's mostly chest deep and half salt, half fresh water.![]()
Hi Lee1972,
I reckon the best thing for you to do is just go to a good spot in Sydney, have a look around and basically ask one of the local sailors for some tips.
Im sure most guys would be more than happy to show you how to rig your gear properly and give sailing tips.
Even if you are on the water ask someone standing in shallows for tips. Most spots like Kyeemagh, Long Reef, Wanda, Palm Beach and Narrabeen lake will have people willing to help.
Windsurfing is a social, fun sport so introduce yourself and ask away. ![]()
As to going away for the weekend try Jimmy's Beach at Hawks Nest, Approx 2 1/2 hours drive north of Sydney. Nice spot, clean water and usuallt flat.
Any of the lakes like Munmorah, Macquarie, Budgewoi etc on the central coast all have great spots.
3 hours north is Pacific Palms and Wallis and Smiths lake. Big expanses of water, pretty shallow and warm water. Just go adventuring and have fun.
Cheers.
About three hours south of Sydney is Jervis Bay. Huge expanse of flat(ish) water where the nor easter comes in a couple of hours earlier than Sydney, and is usually 5 knots stronger.
i recommend Pacific palms widnsurfing is you call Gabe or Chris kellerman at the boatshed, they are exceptional teachers and the area is an excellent place for a weekend away.
Hi Lee,
Another place is Canton Beach at the top Tuggerah Lake, about 1 1/2 hours north of Sydney. Its good when the wind is from the south to the north west (sensational for those big winter SW'ers), though don't bother when the wind is in any other direction. The water is shallow, from knee to waist height, so its good for trying out new maneuvers as you can get started again quickly after a fall. When the wind rises above 15 kts then there is always a few people out who are always ready to help.
The down side is there is a lot of weed
, a weed fin mandatory.
Forget Smiths Lake there is no water in the lake at the moment.Wallace lake is great out wide in a noreastly launching from the famous boat shed.
