We have noticed a distinct drop of kiters hitting the water, There would be up to 5 -20 kiters on the water with our 4-8 W/S. Still have the same windsurfers plus one but we rarely see a kiter at all.
Anyone notice the same trend, I would think the cities are still kite boomimg but smaller towns would notice the drop of local kiters getting there gear out.

Melbourne seems to still be growing.

St Kilda is usually packed with kiters and two (?) schools running lessons. I'm not sure how many of these are backpackers or tourists though.

Invy seems to still have a fair few as well.

Doesnt seem to be as many at Kite Beach at Narrabeen these days.
Not sure of any reg's but we do get the odd complaint letter in the local paper.
Kites smashing down and splatting kids etc, cant be a good look!!

Monday 27/12
Long Reef
Southerly

12-5PM wind 10-20 knots with 30-40 kiters and 0 windsurfers

5-7PM wind 15-25 knots with 5-10 kiters and 3-5 windsurfers

There's usually a wind strength break point at which there are always more windsurfers than kiters (around 25-30 knots)

At our local the ratio is 1 dancer for every 5 kiters.

But there is only 5 kiters and one dancer that live here.

At our local kiters are banned. Something about getting sucked into jet engines...
