Hi guys,
I heard that prices in gnaraloo are getting absolutely absurt...
$18 plus for a site, preference sites for families and still not enough car park..
What is going on out there? Are they planning to improve the camp and give us value for money? i.e shade, fresh water, trees, enough car park.
You still do not get anything for your $$.
Except for the classic wave sailing conditions off course.. See picture
This is a sensitive issue to some folks.
IMO, they should charge $100 a day and limit numbers. Then the station can be returned to some semblance of it's former self.
3 mile camp is a cess pit and should be closed and abandonded !!
"troll a loll a ding dong hey"![]()
Nothing worst than a tight ass
I'd pay $5o a night and sh1t in the bush.
Its a bargin rememeber alot of the time the place is half empty but bills have to be paid.
im just stoked there is a camp site there
next time all you tight arses waste $18 on crap think that could be a night a Gnaraloo![]()

It's not about being tight, it's about not having money.
Hey (going off on a slight tangent here) I don't get one thing: Australia has more land (ok so that includes a lot of desert) than most countries and a relatively tiny population. Why the high land prices? I think about a hundred bucks an acre would be more reasonable.
The govt regulates the supply to keep prices artificially high = more stamp duty, land taxes etc!!
It ain't fair, it just is. ![]()
Re Gnaraloo...$18 / nite is firkle. But I'd gladly pay more for better facilities.
wow... I heard the same complaints from a number of whiny Italians. Let me tell you, I just spent two weeks traveling through Italy (Rome, Tuscany, Florenz etc.) If I hear another Italian complaining about the prices at Gnaraloo Station I think I will personally put forward a petition to ban Italian windsurfers from entering Australia.
A regular s..t meal in Rome will set you back 20 Euros without wine or any drinks. The worst is that's not even good food. A night in a hotel will cost you at least 100 Euros... and the quality at that price level is so bad it would give the worst dump in Kings Cross a run for it's money.
So next time you complain about $18 being too much or that their are not enough facilities remember that the place is so remote it may as well be on the moon...
... oh, and btw the owner of the station could simple close it to public access. So be nice, pay your $18 and be happy we have such a great wave sailing location in this awesome country of ours.
Side note:
The land at 3 mile is all a pastoral lease. The lease holder must gain permission for any further construction, any constructions or upgrades can be removed / demolished at any time at government discretion.
Therefore the station owner is spending his $$ on improving the facilities around the homestead. There is even a fresh water shower
.
So if you want better facilities, better value for money stay at the homestead. It's only a 3 mile drive to 3 mile ![]()
P.S. It costs the station many $$ to keep the tracks maintained, more traffic has meant more maintenance, therefore higher costs.
The Japanese sold out about 6? years ago.
(They were hoping to build a golf course up there
)
You could of bought the place for under $2,000,000 ![]()
A pleasant chain smoking Irishmen is the current owner.
The lease was renewed in 2007 and completion/revovation of the chalets at the homestead began. All chalets now have running water and power. At this stage only the homestead has a fresh water shower.
There's much more to Gnaraloo than windsurfing ![]()

P.S. Don't even mention the Rip Curl issue ![]()
