Hi All,
Just looking for some help with this one... I was washing down my NP Fusion 5.5 yesterday and decided to remove the battens as there was a bit of sand through the battens... All was going well until I went to put the top batten back in, and it won't go in that last 1/2 inch that will allow the batten lock to fold over ?!
Does any one have any thoughts / experienced this before ?
could possibly be that it needs a bit of tension on the tip. Try rigging it with a bit of downhaul/ outhaul (not heaps) and see if it opens up the head of the sail a bit.
Could just be catching on the end reinforcement stitching.
Have you tried with somebody helping to guide it at the luff end?
@Drift... I'll try that when I get home tonight.
@Mark_australia.. I thought that might be the case... given the top batten is only 1.5' long, I was able to feel the luff end, and it feels like it goes all the way to the stitching. I checked against the other battens and it feels like it's going in all it can compared to the others...
Just for those who might be interested, or who have a similar problem in the future...
Managed to get the batten to fit again. I must have pulled the adjusting piece away from the rod enough to make it slightly longer (keep it clean fella's!). Anyway, after a little tapping to get the adjusting piece back further down the batten, it fitted in.
Happy again, and ready for the weekend !![]()
