I would say that 80% of all beach-talk is about fins. Fins is a fantastic subject and I love it. But I am surprised that almost no one are into mast-trimming.
Here is my latest blog-post about masts:

Any reflections about this?
Hey Anders,
For a second there I thought you were talking about trimming (cutting down) masts![]()
Oh, nice mast collection to go with your fin collection too. ![]()
Hey, i'm 85 kg. And i use a 460 mast in a 8m2 sail that needs a 490. I can definitely feel that the sail is not as powerfull as it could be, however when its 20 knots im flying. Just wondering what the effects are of putting a constant curve 460 mast in a sail that needs a 490. The mast is of course softer, but do the mast be more flextop?
You are neither heavy or light, so it is no surprise that the rig works. A normal sail would work well in low end with a soft mast. But bend too much in gusts and high wind. Also carbon percent makes different. Normally that matters more...
But is is impossible to say anything particular without see the rig and get more feedback from the sailor. Trimming the masts is about head to head sailing and at least 20-30 GPS-runs a day.
