I got myself a copy of sony Vegas pro 10 as I'm starting to get the creative bug. It wasn't the cheapest but already it's leaps and bounds in front of what I've used in the past, and I don't really know what I'm doing. I've quickly given one of my old videos a treatment with new titles and credits and a few effects along with some colour enhancements. I wish I'd kept the original file so I could have re edited it to see what could have been done.
some really nice effects and particle stuff in there in the titles
but remember
content is king
- ie your subject matter is the most important element -and if you dont have good content - it doesnt matter how fancy your titles are.
List of elements ranked by importance
1. the action
2. the lighting (followed very closely and some times less important than)
3. Sound (natural sound and soundtrack)
4. Contrast
5. Different angles
6. Hi Def vs Sd (its really not as important as its made out to be)
and so on
if you go for a"grand" title opening feel you had better make sure the content lives up to the expectation you are creating.
Try and be aware of your audience's attention span - the last thing you want is people skipping through your video
shorter = better
It looks like you had fun putting the titles together though -which is the important thing. Each video is a step to the next one being better.

I'll be heading up to Gero in november but i think i might just have a look at how they do it or just potter around on the inside.
