Ain't it great now we have had some real wind?
Down at Safety Bay/Warnbro Sound/Shoalwater nearly all the kiters have disappeared.
Obviously the handful left are ex windsurfers and can handle the conditions.
Even had a friendly wave from a couple, must be ex windsurfers for sure....
Hahahahaha

Sydney Mardi Gras is coming up. Those floats and dance routines need work and preparation.

Hehehehe
Indeed it has been great the last couple of weeks, took a while to get going though.
I popped this post on the kiters forum too, not a peep from them.
My post must have all been true.......

Wow, this and Waveslave's post seem to be heading down the lines of WS v KS again. Are we allowed to have some fun with this topic and stir a few up or is it now tabou.

I got out. I even gave a windsurfer my screwdriver to repair his footstrap
Most kiters probably put off by the learner on an 11m (way too big for yesterday conditions) getting lofted into a boardwalk and getting ambulanced off
More kiters than poleys out where i was, maybe your spot is where the wind was lighter?[}:)]

Who was the idiot kiter at peli point yesterday that was doing jumps in the learning area? If anyone knows him, tell him to stop being a tool.

Hopefully it was the same guy that got dragged into the trees.

dl i totally agree with you who is that tool! i cant stand it when people do jumps right on the shoreline. if there was no one around he wouldnt be doing them there. Some peoples egos are bigger than all of us. i would have thought that once you reached a certain level you would head straight for the sea.

Normally we see Windsurfers gaining skills in this spot,(pond at Safety Bay) lots of new people learning the sport, and frequented by a strong group: Safety Bay Windsurfing club.
www.seabreeze.com.au/gallery/gallery.asp?imageid=8446

How come we now have this from an experienced group in the kite scene www.seabreeze.com.au/gallery/gallery.asp?imageid=8416
and this
www.seabreeze.com.au/gallery/gallery.asp?imageid=8415
going on right on top of the learning and intermediate windsurfers.

That's just a huge ugly incident waiting too happen. Come on kite crew, your just inflaming issues pulling huge air in such a cramped area of windsurfers.
The last thing you want is to be banned from the area, due to a complaint to local authorities.

No offence, but sounds like you haven't been down that way in a while Mineral. The only reason learner windsurfers are out there is because WA Surf base themselves there. I've been out on my 8m and 25+ Knots, he has them out there floating around not even being able to sheet in the sail. You reckon that's learning skills, nah just improving balance mate.

What other info do students get for their money?. The other day I had an incident where I thought a poley was in trouble. Fact was he's still learning, but on his own gear without instruction. Fair enough, got to move on at some point. Now I've been out of the sport for a while, but I still remember 25+knots means small board small sail. This guy was out on a huge board with a sail that looked at least a 5.5m. He not only put himself at risk in amongst all the kiter's, but on his way into shore he nearly collected a bunch of poley's head on doing some high speed. So if the SBWC are so helpful why don't they give this guy some simple tips, like let the condition's determine which equipment you use. If a kiter puts up a 12m in 30 knots he would be told it's irresponsible.

BTW the kiter's pic's you posted are more local than any poley down there, they are both very considerate and always look before boosting.

Also I can't believe how many windsurfers stop for a 10 min rest in the water. We use to go out for 3-4 hours and come in once to drink a litre of water, then straight back out. It's not like your in the waves getting worked over.

Anyway, IMO Shoalwater Bay around McClarty road carpark is best for learner kiter's and windsurfers. Maybe suggest to WA surf they should move round there. Out of interest does he pay a fee for using public space to earn money? I know the other kite school do!

Good winds to all and don't forget to wave, especially you WA66.

Heh...I met these 3 kiters from WA the other day. Professional divers, built like brick s**thouses. They could drink, and were pretty cool overall. As I said to them, "You guys would make great windsurfers. Don't sell yourselves short"...

Same old story, the ignorant few will spoil it for everyone else.
That includes kiters and windsurfers.
By the way BLASTER it was inevitable you'd move across to kiting, you never were that good at windsurfing, despite great effort on my behalf trying to teach you...
I'll wave for sure, your shout for beers isn't it ?!!!
