It looks like big John (President) has sacrificed a few Bundy and Cokes last night because he has fired up the wind God's for today's racing. There is a 20-25 knot SE breeze predicted, which means we will be racing on the Northern side of the rock wall at Manly. This is not only good news for the racers but also makes it exciting for the spectators with the top guys and girls carving it up in full planing gibes right in close.
Registration starts at 1.00pm with racing at 2.00. As always there will be a sausage sizzle after the race. The Manly markets will be on until 3.00pm so bring the wife and kids along for the fun.
Hope to see you all there.
Yay, a race with wind when I finally have nothing clashing on the same day!
Was great racing. Gusts up to 30 knots were recorded on the point. Had to put my boom out a whole extra hole on the 7m.
Who won the last race???
For the record, we got punished at my indoor soccer game, so I may as well have stayed for the last race :(
Another great race, thanks to the committee for your organisation through the season and ensuring those prayers made it to the wind gods.
Tomorrow sure is going to be a sore day ![]()
Can you believe it everyone got at least 2 sausages and some even had 3. Geez Mikey you may have to get back soon or we may all get fat (ter)![]()
The racing was an absolute blast, right up until my boom let go on the start line
.
Sean - I think Dave Mikanovic won the last race. The wind really kicked another notch an his old fanatic 55 slalom was smokin, while everyone else was just happy to make it back.
For the record another great WQ meet with nearly 30 racers hitting the course. That winds up the racing meets for the season. Remember over easter we are having the Bundy Run at Elliot heads. For more info check out WQ forum.
What?
I practically gifted that race to Julien Ventalon by not showing up. I will have to give him a serve! He must've put it in the drink on that last gybe... haha, amateur!
Na Julien did win then Dave then Myself followed by Simon in the last race.
Great day think everyone had a blast
Well today is going to throw a spanner in the works for seasonal points- especially the pikers that didn't show (no need to mention VANDO) ![]()
Yeap, just had a beer with Julien at the Normanby, he did win that last race.
Great day.
I almost think sometimes I should get a slalom board bigger than 85l but then it blows like today and I scratch that idea...
Hi Haircut (alias used to protect the innocent), Thanks for taking that video, it is always good for the competitors to get some footage of the races. We will be able to look at it in winter when we are missing the competition. (PS: I can't make it work yet but I am sure it will be good when I do).
I hope you charged Mike for your freestyle tips. He beat me in every race, except for the one when I ran into him at the jibe mark. Sorry about that, I learned those tactics from Muddy at the RQ's WAGS events, Darryl tried the same on me at the next mark but missed me entirely... needs to work on his aim.
It was a fitting end to a great season and I would like to thank everyone who made it possible. There is nothing better than seeing that many competitors slogging it out and having a ball. A number of people have mentioned that the skill levels have improved dramatically and I would agree. I look forward to building on this season next year and hopefully mixing it up a bit. Perhaps some Super Cross for Haircut.
yes fixed, sorry again. It seems the server doesn't know how to handle the .3gp extension so I have renamed it. It is really still a 3gp file with h264 compression so you will still need the VLC player to play it.

good luck ![]()
It was not fair!!!
Everybody had a slalom sail and not a wave sail like me! I can't afford a smaller slalom rig than my 9m² yet... etc etc (complain from a guy who was overtook at least 10 times per race, though the same guy past me a few times in the same race). So my current solution is to eat more saussages at the barbecue to be able to sail with the 9m² up to 30 knots.![]()
By the way, again a great event and a lot of fun with a perfect weather! Congratulation to everybody, is so good to race in slalom with 25 other guys.
I hope to be here next season with my smaller slalom gear.
awesome ![]()
if VLC player doesn't work for some reason, here is flashplayer 9 linkhttp://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_active_x.msi
I must admit seeing Julien on a large F2 Sx slalom machine witha 5.8m wave sail was a sight. I was waiting for him to do a vulcan or some other flicky thing
. Guys would pass him on the reach and then he would pass them at the gybe.
Vando - mate we missed you and pierre. The last 2 races have been in 20kts, and you guys missed them both (weren't looking for flat water were you
)
ok, last night i added the vid to the wanderers site so everyone can now view it.
follow this linkhttp://www.windwanderers.com/Video.html
select Manly 02/03/08 at the bottom of the page.
a pop up window will appear which may take a few minutes to load and then it will play the vid.
i am trying to improve the pre-load speed for the flash movies but haven't got around to it yet. anyways once the vid has cached on your pc you will get it instantly every time you view it.
and please use the latest flash player
hey haircut, another awesome effort mate. you should serious teach this stuff. ![]()
Actually, i had more fun struggleling with my 5.6m² wave sail and fighting at every jibe with other guys than crusing in 9m² (state title eg.)
But tell me who prefers 10 knots than 20 ?!
Next time i'll rig the 9m² whatever the wind![]()
