So a friend of mine recently gave me an 18ft stingray catamaran. Twin trapese, along with other bells and whistles.
How different to windsurfing can it be i tell myself.....
so throw on the chest harness with a windsurfing buddy of mine, don the head camera (and boy are we glad we did) and this was the resulting trip on the water......not exactly what i had planned....
some excellent rescue boat driving you must agree....
lmao...
i wanna sail with you guys....
that's gold!
p.s. did you let the main sheet off before trying to right it? it looked well stuck.
Brilliant - reminded me of a 70's 'Carry On' movie. At one stage there I thought you were going to have to rescue the rescue boat! Your mate drives like I windsurf. Enjoyed the vid. ![]()

Dude that was sick as. Did you end up losing anything when you did your upside down derig
Deffinitly a classic sailing moment ![]()
Excellent stuff.
See if you can get hold of half a broken windsurfing mast (Neil Pryde seem to specialise in providing these parts to catamarans - I've seen at least three on boats!), and hinge it off the underside of the front crossbeam. It folds away under the tramp usually, but is a convenient lever when the boat is upside down!
I had one on my Tornado before I sold it, hinged in the middle of the beam rather than the end like these guys: thebeachcats.com

Great entertainment anyway - thanks!

Another method using a rescue boat is to attach ropes to the bows, run them down the length of the boat and off the stern to the IRB, and have it pull the boat backwards while you and your crew weight the sterns while holding the tow lines as high as you can manage. The sail catches in the water, and the whole lot flips end over end. Apparently that's the method the big guys use to salvage cruising multihulls.
Ha Ha, nice one Nick! I used to have a Hobie 16, and put foot straps on it - very useful things! What camera were you using?
LINS, Tears to my eye's, why we always recommend people new to cats put floats on the top the mast.
So funny and really well edited ![]()
