Been back in the UK now for a while and updating my windsurf kit. All these gales we're having has meant getting some smaller gear. Just bought a 4.5 Tushingham rock wave sail and wanna know whether to get a tushingham 60% carbon RDM (skinny) mast or the normal diamater tushingham 75% carbon mast.
I appreciate tushingham isn't used much in Oz as it's a UK manufacturer but just wanting to know what people though on the RDM skinny verses normal diameter masts for wave sails. I've herad thjat the RDMs are better for the gusts etc in these conditions but I would have to also get a new mast extension if I had a skinny as well which puts the price up...

Go the rdm, to me they make rigs feel more alive plus improved handling and stronger.

Downsides- they hurt more when you crash into them

Yep RDM for sure.

after watching someone on the weekend wrestling with getting a SDM out of the luff pocket after a sail, the ease of rigging alone is a selling point.

Only thing I find, and it may just be my imagination, they tend to sink faster than SDM's did. So sometimes it take a bit longer to get th rig to surface to waterstart.

Big votes for the RDMs and no votes for the SDMs! Thanks guys for the feedback I'm still considering it despite the support for the RDMs - the need for a new ext and only 60% carbon verses Tushingham 75% on SDM makes it a difficult decision!
