I can't see the vid as my iPad won't play it but if it is what I think it is, its sort of a cross between a windsurfer and a hang glider. They have been around for a long time. I first read about them in Sailboard Quarterly about twenty five years ago
edit: the iPad is now displaying the vid and it is as I thought and the vid looks like it's from the mid eighties. I think they are still around though I've never seen one in the flesh
I was watching some out takes for The Windsurfing Movie 2 and they showed a clip of Kai Lenny taking it out for a spin at The Gorge. After a quick google I found a few videos, I missed all this crazy sort of stuff from the 80's as I've only been sailing for the past three years, but since all that is old is new again...who knows.
"since all that is old is new again......."
Can hardly wait for some of the other things that didn't work, such as assymetrical tails on boards and golf-ball impessions on board under-surfaces.
Perhaps with more marketing, they'll work next time around. ![]()
They are still around, called a "Kitewing" now. There has been some guy on here who if I remember correctly has a direct connection to the import/distrbution/sale of kitewings in Australia.

Never seen one either though.

the orange and yellow wet suit also look as out there as the wind wepon..the 80's what a time of discovery and invention if you couldnt buy it just build it youself. alot cool stuff started then and a few things like orange and yellow wet suits best forgoten
Whats wrong with fluoro wetsuits? I still wear a bright yellow & blue one ( spring ) & purple & blue winter..
I've had the winter one adjusted to fit but the arms & legs are still a bit short..(??) wonder if my arms have grown as well as my middle since the 90's..![]()
I like the idea of these hangglider thingies..anyone know why they didnt take of..? ( pardon the pun
)..
Yeah,
I used to have a nice Ripcurl wetsuit that had a bright blue strip on each side. Black is boring.
I think Greenroom's bro deals with the windweapon/kitewing.
