Sorry Alberto (well mostly sorry Jordo) but I hate it.

(1) Too flash. For those still on dialup (yes there are lots of us country bumpkins who will not pay $80 per month for limited satellite b/band).... it takes ages.
Literally 3mins to get in to the index ..... and yes that IS SKIPPING the intro! When skipping the intro it should take you straight to a basic page.... not one with heaps of hi res pics on it.

(2) no listing of secondhand gear. Fair enough some other shops also do not, but 2nd Wind, WS Perth and Windforce have great secondhand listings which will get them business from those not in Perth who will shop online. All you have is new gear listed.

Hello Mark,
Thank you for your feedback and looking forward to seeing you tomorrow competing.

Regarding the slow loading for dial up users, we are working on a lighter version that will have live soon. As for the second hand gear, due to the fast rotation, it is not feasible for us to keep the database update on a daily basis. There are no "virtual" goods advertised in our website, all products are in stock and ready to be shipped.

Kind regards,
Alberto

I greenthumbed you as the red thumbs were uncalled for. Choose Life

Good site. Pity we missed the shop when over in Perth last year.

I agree with Mark.

Awesome graphics on the intro but even with broadband it takes a bit long to get to the point. If it hadn't been for the other comments I'd have been thinking "is all there is?" and clicked onto another site
There is the skip button, but unless it opens full screen size you don't see that.

People are busy and can't be bothered waiting for sites with too many bells and whistles to load or get to the point.

I agree the locality pics are also distracting and are where the buttons for the next pages should be - you don't notice the little ones at the top (even though that's where they usually are) because you're distracted by the flashy pics.

Sorry to be negative but you did ask for feedback...

I'd suggest shortening the intro, and moving the locality pics to a less prominent position.

Having said that, I love the friendly atmosphere of your shop and you really need to bring that out. What I like best about your shop compared to others is that you treat ladies like fellow windsurfers and not like alien beings who have turned up in the wrong place.

i really like it.

i don't agree that it's hard to navigate. personally it's great to see something different.

it really bores me to see websites all looking the same.

i also like the hi-res images. probably slows it down a little but i like looking at prefessional images.

the slow loading may also be server based.?

i also agree second hand goods are great when listed.

Hi everyone thanks for the feedback.

Im Jordan, the web developer of the new site, and its good to hear feed back, Both the good and the bad.

I would just like to add a few more points, both adding on to what Alberto has said, and adding some additional.

I am aware that the site is a little bit bandwidth hungry, And as Alberto stated, We are working on a liter version of the site, For both DailUp and mobile broadband users. The "lite" site is going to be alot more compressed with fewer images, and the overall template will be less complicated. Which will help dramatically with speeding load times up.

A small point to add which supports Gestalts comment of "server based problems" is that there was a backup occurring on my server. Now i cant say that this has caused slower loading, But it may have contributed to the issue buy just a little bit.

Thanks
Jordan Crawford

Mark, that was me that red thumbed you. It's hardly Jordo's fault that you're too tight to pay for a decent internet connection. Go sailing and stop your belly aching.

Thanks for the compliments about the "awesome graphics" and the looks of the site.
BTW I only like compliments. Anything negative is not welcome[}:)]

Apart from selling, which is the purpose of every website such as ours, we want to tell you a story.
We want you to get to know who we are as well as what we sell.
We are people. First.
We sell products. Second.

If our storytelling or publicity does not have the most pleasing appearance or effect on you, should you still know we judge with heightened perception your understanding and abilities.

We also do our best to treat your feedback in an attentive way.
Thanks again for the time you take to send us your opinions reflective of your own feelings.

I like the look of the new site. I also wish it would have an up to date 2nd hand listing on there. Is it really that much work to enter a piece of equipments brand size and condition into a database when it arrives/or is sold?

The graphic design, presentation and images are excellent, congrats to the designer. Lay out and flow is very good too. I think it actually captures the essence of what the sport does for me......takes me away from the real world to somewhere more interesting and tranquil but exciting.

I do agree with Mark regarding performance from websites in general. I live in the city and use wireless broadband which isn't that fast. Some sites really peeve me when I have to wait some 'cool' video clip to load or I get tacky music blaring away. Having said this, the performance was quite good in this case.

If I wan't entertainment I'll turn on the TV. If I want information or online purchase I want to be able to do it quickly, efficiently from anywhere and any device. I do buy 2nd hand gear around the country so a list would be useful.

The site is a huge leap from the old one, great work.

I'd hardly say "too tight to pay" ... the simple fact it that this is Australia and people in regional areas often do not have fast internet available at all. I also have what is known as a "life" and therefore paying $80 per month for satellite broadband just to read seabreeze and do a bit online shopping would be a little excessive yeah?

If I started a thread myself that went on about how Windshack's new site was too flash or slow, then that would be belly aching.
They asked for feedback and I gave some so it is hardly whinging is it.

In P.M' s back n forth with Jordo I complimented his extremely hi quality website and likened it to Quiksilver's site. I just think poeple need to be aware that not everyone likes flash stuff they just wanna get in, buy something and go.

Site looks great.
Just a couple of things to have a look at (Jordo)

Might pay to run a spell check on the view page info content you have inserted:

The most radicle Wind and Wave adicted shop in Australia

You may also need to check the terms and conditions regarding the usage of the Rocket Theme produced template... in particular the required RT copyright reference in the xml file ?

The outside section of your right hand modules are not displaying their full handles when viewed in firefox... possibly an auto alignment issue within the module that you can modify from within the joomla admin area.

There's also a broken link on your propaganda page... possible menu id misnaming convention

PM me if you need a hand with any of the CMS side of things, happy to help out where I can.

All up site is great, graphics are slick and well planned out.
Looking forward to seeing the site evolve further.
