Hi I was just wondering if anybody would know the price of a new Bic Hybrid board, Can they really go up to $3,500 ! or would that be for a complete set up ?

If it includes a rig then that is probably a reasonable price.
I don't think windsurfer gear is all that expensive. Boards and sails are not incredibly more expensive than they were 20 years ago.

Thanks Very much Mobydisc ! I was just surprised as I entered a competition for my husband and was the lucky winner of one ! Was just a little shocked when they told me it was worth $3,500 ! I'm not really sure what a rig is

If selling its a bit difficult to say how much its worth. It all depends if someone out there is keen to buy it.
A rig is the sail, mast, boom and universal joint/extension. It probably includes a fin too.
Thanks again for your answers, I thought hubby would go crazy for it as he surfs but he says its completly different he says it would be good to try out but probably wont use it in between surfing ,work and us !

Yeah windsurfing is different to surfing but the two complement each other, ie you don't go surfing when the wind is blowing in the afternoon and the surf is crap. You don't go windsurfing when its calm and the waves are clean.
If he hasn't been windsurfing before and you live in Sydney, it may be best for him to get a lesson and see if its for him or not. If it is then you have a perfect board to get going on and improve. If not you can advertise the board as unused and new.

Agree with Moby: the Bic has a good reputation as a learning board. If your husband is remotely interested in taking up windsurfing, I wouldn't rush to sell it. It owes you nothing.
Flat enclosed water (vs. surf) is best for learning. Lake Illawarra, Culburra, Sanctuary Point, Corrigans, Coila, Merimbula may be some potential places for you to consider. Maybe even Lake Burrill, but I haven't sailed there for a while.
You'll need advice as to how to rig it (the sail, fin and straps). Setting up a sailboard is quite "technical". Puts a lot of beginners off. Anyone here would be happy to help get him started. We love it, and are keen to share the passion.

Thanks so much for all your answers, I spoke to hubby he says he has been windsurfing a few times many many years ago and enjoyed it but in between work and surfing he thinks he may just get a kayak ! 
Anyway me taking it up? Well that would be one for the truly uncoordinated! i have been enjoying having a look around your site though its really great to see how much you guys love this sport, I often see windsurfers near our home now I will pay more attention to what they are doing !
C'mon have a go, its awsome fun at all levels of skill, get a lesson or two and you'll be up und running, then the rest of the family will see how cool it is and they will get into it too etc...... trust me ..... you wont regret it.
Don't be put off because you're uncoordinated rivver.
I used to be the most uncoordinated person around. Couldn't even catch a ball, but I tried windsurfing and loved it enough to work at it.
I am now quite coordinated and even amaze myself by catching things which I've hardly even seen.
Windsurfing makes you coordinated, and coordination is something which can develop well into adulthood.
This year I even joined my first sporting team ever - a windsurfing team.
Give it a go.
