Hey guys trying to track down the windsurfer who brought in a rogue kite at port Melbourne on Thursday night 7 th feb. Can he or anyone who knows him please pm me so it can be arranged that he can be duly rewarded for his Herculean efforts and given the thanks he deserves.

Also if this is better posted in Vic windsurf forum let me know

Cheers in advance

It might be Mathew (that's his username on here).

He's a local - sails out of St Kilda - and retrieving kiteboards is a bit of a party trick of his.

They showed vision on The project on Thursday or Friday night. Someone might recognise him if they go to the The shows website and view it.

Hi

It was me.

You gave me a big hug and said thanks brother. Thats all i need.

You seemed pretty happy that the spirit of Tasmania didn't swallow your kite.

I bailed quickly because the wind was dying and I had to sail about 5km tacking up into wind. It was 9pm, getting dark and the water police were still looking for the body! I thought I should tell them not to bother.

Let me tell you what happened.

I put down the kids after a lovely dinner on the beach drooling at all the sailing action.

I was driving down beach rd and I saw a kite about 300m out in front of middle park. Two years ago I rescued a lady who was half drowned getting dragged along with the string wrapped around her wrist. Same spot. I was worried. I parked, and rigged my board in record time. Was in the water in 8mins. (can't do that on a kite). I blasted down to catch the kite. When I got to it I sailed under one string and started towing the kite in.

The the water police arrived. They said something that sent a shiver up my spine, " did you check if there is a body attached" I freaked out. "I bloody hope not!" I yelled.

So I pulled the string in and found the empty harness....relief.

After nearly decapitating two swimmers I parked the kite rolled up the harness and there you were. Alive!!! Thank god.

Glad to help. Am I on tv?

Solid contender for this seasons MVP award for sure!

Great attitude on the thanks required too - a heartfelt bro hug goes a long way. Sounds like a plenty of karma heading your way. TV deal perhaps?

Great work Yuppy !!

Obviously you're not a real Yuppy otherwise you wouldn't have noticed the kite 'cos you would have been way too busy talking on your I-Phone and looking at yourself in the rearview mirror of your Range Rover....

Well done.

Yuppy you are a legend mate.

I was thinking good karma is not enough and if your a drinking man a few beers should be coming your way. Let me know details and I will make necessary arrangements.

The 000 was cancelled as soon as I made the long swim landing at kerford road. I saw the chaos (ambos) while I was still a good 200m from shore fortunately i was never in any danger apart from the jellies creeping me out and making me swim faster.

I called the water police and thanked them for the efforts. They were really good blokes .

There is a brief shot of you on the project which you can view on their website. I think its the second segment on the 8 th of feb. You come off looking pretty cool so you should take a look

Cheers again mate
